Ark: Curious Cryptids is an ongoing collection adding strange and unusual creatures to ark and streaming the process live on YouTube for people to watch and learn! I believe modding is incredibly accessible for anyone who is interested in doing it, and this series goes back to basics, breaking down every step in the process and showing real examples of it working along the way. Good luck out there!

A new creature has been added...the Tatzelwurm!
The Tatzelwurm is a lizard-like creature from central European folklore. They are often described as having the face of a cat with a serpent-like body, and are often described as having poison breath.
Gameplay Overview:
In Ark, the Tatzelwurm is an insectoid dragon, based on the Reaper Baby, with a sparse covering of fur, like some spiders. They rarely spawn in caves, and their acidic bites can slow down the movement and attack speed of their prey. Tatzelwurms cannot be traditionally tamed and, instead, wild female Tatzelwurms will drop a fertilized egg upon death. These babies will ask for Tatzelwurm Venom as its preferred imprinting food, which can be acquired from wild Male Tatzelwurms.
Tatzelwurms are designed to be adept cavers, with a high jump and impressive speed (especially when imprinted.) They are glass cannons, with quite low HP, however impressive attack damage and speed, as well as a crippling debuff applied with each bite.
Abilities:
- Tatzelwurms standard [LMB] bite applies a stacking debuff, reducing attack and movement speed by up to 40% at 10 stacks. Tatzelwurms also inherit a base 33% increased damage to all cave creatures.
- In the wild, Tatzelwurms will roar when aggroed, buffing the attack damage of all nearby cave creatures by 33%.
- When tamed, this [RMB] roar instead applies a fear debuff to all targets below 150 drag weight.
- [C] is a sniff ability, which detects nearby supply crates, including cave drops!
- Due to their inability to gain taming levels, Tatzelwurms spawn at higher base levels, just like Tek Dinos.
- The Tatzelwurm saddle is unlocked at level 48 and can be crafted at the smithy.
Meet the Globster!
A Globster is an unidentified organic mass or carcass that washes up on the shore of an ocean or other body of water. They are hard to identify, and have spurred many lake cryptid legends over the years.
Gameplay Overview:
In Ark, the Globster is a small, early game accessible tame which rarely spawns on beaches. (Currently only on the Island, Center, and Ragnarok) Their bodies are coated in thick tar and bones which disguise their appearance and ward off attackers. The Globster is a standard knockout tame, and can be tamed with Simple Kibble.
Beware of the Alpha Globster, larger and tankier than normal Globsters!
- Alpha Globsters drop quality Tatzelwurm saddles / blueprints when killed!
Abilities:
- The Globster is slow, but has lots of stamina, and has ramping speed which gradually increases over time.
- Globsters have a low aggro range, like Theris, to keep them from becoming too much of a nuisance on beaches. This applies to Alpha Globsters as well!
- Lmb is a standard Bite attack, which swaps to a headbutt while charging (functions the same, only visual).
- Rmb is a Bone-shot attack. The Globster launches shards of bone in a spray in front of it.
- Hit targets receive the Fractured debuff, moving at 75% speed and taking double damage from any Globster attacks.
- Spacebar toggles turn-in-place
