⚙️ Technical Notes & API Limits
WhereGuild uses Blizzard’s C_GuildInfo.GuildRoster() API, refreshed every 15 seconds while the UI is open.
This interval keeps the data fresh while avoiding throttling or server spam.
Known Limitations (WoW Classic API):
- 🕵️♂️ WoW Classic only provides the zone, not the subzone
- e.g., "Booty Bay" shows as "Stranglethorn Vale"
- 🕊️ You can’t detect if players are on a bird or boat
- Occasionally "The Great Sea" or "Transport" zones show during travel
- 🔄 Changes are visible every 15s, but ultra-fast movement (like a Mage portal) may appear slightly delayed
🧭 Use Cases
- “Who’s running BRD right now?”
- “Are there any tanks online?”
- “Where is everyone tonight?”
- “Is it safe to cold whisper people for a dungeon?”
WhereGuild is the radar your guild didn’t know it needed.
