Wait for Rez

Is your raid leader yelling, "Don't Release!," but you're already walking back from spawn? Is your Release Spirit reflex too strong to be contained. Do you hit Release Spirit while your healer is casting a rez? This one is for you.

What It Does

When you die, this addon hides the Release Spirit button until you hold down a modifier key (Shift by default). This gives your teammates a chance to resurrect you before you release and run back.

A yellow "Hold Shift to release" hint appears above the death popup so you know what to do.

It defaults to only work in raid so you don't inadvertantly overdevelop your hold mod/release spirit reflex, but this can be changed.

Features

  • Hold-to-release - Must hold Shift/Ctrl/Alt to reveal the Release Spirit button
  • Configurable modifier - Pick which key you want to use
  • Content-aware - Enable only in content where it matters (raids, M+, etc.)
  • Configurable message - Set the reminder text

Installation

  1. Drop the WaitForRez folder in World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/
  2. Restart WoW or /reload

Commands

Settings

Game Menu > Options > AddOns > Wait for Rez

You can configure:

  • Enable/disable the feature
  • Which modifier key to use (Shift, Ctrl, or Alt)
  • Which content types to enable it in:
    • Raids (Normal, Heroic, Mythic)
    • Dungeons (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, Mythic+)
    • Follower Dungeons / Scenarios
    • PvP
    • Open World

Default Settings

By default, hold-to-release is enabled in:

  • Raid - Mythic
  • Raid - Heroic
  • Raid - Normal / LFR / Timewalking
