Council Rotation

Council Rotation is a plugin for RCLootCouncil that rotates eligible raid members into temporary loot council seats each raid night.

Why this exists

In many guilds, loot council decisions are made by the same small group every week, usually officers or leadership.

That structure can work well, but it also means most raiders never get to see how loot decisions are actually made. They do not get exposure to the tradeoffs, the context behind decisions, or the discussion that happens when multiple strong candidates want the same item.

Council Rotation exists to make that process more visible and more inclusive.

By rotating raiders into council seats, guild members can directly participate in loot voting, observe how decisions are discussed, and build a better understanding of how loot council works in practice.

This is not just about fairness. It is about transparency, trust, and helping the wider raid team understand the realities of loot decisions.

What it does

The addon lets a loot master:

• Choose which guild ranks are eligible for rotation
• Set how many rotating seats to fill
• Reserve permanent seats for officers or leadership
• Randomly select eligible raiders for that night's council
• Use a fair round-robin system so everyone gets a turn before repeats
• Announce selected members in raid chat
• Whisper selected players with instructions
• Update the active RCLootCouncil council for the raid

The rotating seats are additive. They do not replace permanent council members.

How it works in raid

At raid start, the addon selects eligible raiders to fill the configured rotating seats.

Selected players are announced in raid chat and whispered with instructions. They can then participate in the normal RCLootCouncil voting process alongside permanent council members.

Guilds can also encourage rotating members to join council discussion in Discord so they can hear the reasoning behind decisions, follow the verbal discussion, and better understand how the group evaluates upgrades, progression needs, attendance, role impact, and other factors.

On future raid nights, different raiders are selected until the full eligible pool has had a turn.
