PSW Hunt for the Rares v0.15.0
What's new
PSW Hunt for the Rares v0.15.0
This is the first major public update after v0.14.8 and expands HFTR from a rare tracker into a much more complete rare-hunting workflow.
Hunt Mode
- Added Hunt Mode for DAILY rare zones.
- Automatically selects the nearest eligible remaining rare.
- Uses HFTR's own navigation arrow; TomTom is not required.
- Supports Full and Minimal Hunt layouts.
- Added configurable arrow placement and size.
- Added optional 3D target model with icon fallback.
- Added Skip and Stop controls.
- Automatically advances after arrival, a qualifying kill, or when the current target becomes unavailable for the day.
- Added the Hunting Time zone-entry prompt when DAILY rares remain.
- Added a dedicated Hunt Complete celebration when a DAILY zone is fully cleared.
Smarter Daily Rare Tracking
- Added Blizzard-backed DAILY rare eligibility handling.
- Rares already completed for the current daily reset can persist as NRA across reloads and relogs.
- Daily locks automatically roll over using Blizzard's daily-reset timing rather than a hardcoded reset time.
- Fresh live rare evidence can override stale historical NRA state.
- Added corpse awareness: finding a supported rare already dead marks it Dead without granting a kill or creating a false daily lock.
- Improved state handling for Attackable, Protected / waiting, Dead, Not Found and NRA.
- EVENT content remains separate from DAILY lock/reset behavior.
Tracker, Alerts and Navigation
- Improved the main tracker with a scrollable Full view and automatic focus on detected or synchronized rares.
- Hunt progress uses the same eligibility truth as the tracker, so completed, locked or currently dead targets are skipped correctly.
- Added context-aware sharing actions depending on whether a valid protection timer exists.
- Improved HFTR-owned waypoint cleanup and replacement behavior.
- Added child-map-aware Hunt and waypoint navigation using world-position calculations so sub-maps are not compared using incompatible raw coordinates.
- Added optional Alive for spawn information when Blizzard exposes usable GUID timing data.
- Added optional HFTR NPC tooltip information for status, kills, alive time and daily lock state.
Setup, Settings and Accessibility
- Added a premium first-run Setup Wizard with a dedicated Welcome page.
- Added Run Setup Wizard under General so it can be rerun later.
- Reorganized Settings for easier discovery.
- Hunt Mode is now its own top-level Settings category.
- Added Chat & Messages as the central home for addon-generated chat output.
- Notifications now focuses on active attention-grabbing behavior such as Rare Alert and sounds.
- Added short, localization-ready explanations beneath every Settings page title.
- Added an Accessibility section with Reduce flashing & rapid effects, Reduce motion, and High contrast status colors.
- Status is never communicated by color alone.
Sharing and Sync
- Added independent controls for receiving and sharing community sightings.
- Added opt-in character-name sharing.
- Rare Alert can show who shared a sighting.
- Sync protocol handling was extended while keeping older compatible clients tolerant of optional additional data.
- DAILY personal states such as NRA/locked remain private and are not broadcast as shared rare state.
Debugging and Safety
- Expanded Debug Tracker to four logging levels: Basic, Medium, Advanced and Expert.
- Debug observation scope is independently selectable as HFTR Only or World Scan.
- World Scan can inspect unsupported NPCs for diagnostics without adding them to tracking, alerts, sharing, sync or kill history.
- Added broader vignette, GUID, spawn and classification diagnostics.
- Hardened secret/protected-value handling for Midnight.
- Fixed a secret-key crash discovered while entering a dungeon.
- Unsupported dungeons, raids and scenarios no longer inherit rare content from an outdoor parent map.
- The live tracker automatically hides in unsupported instances; if manually opened it remains empty.
- This does not block future dungeon or raid rare support: an expansion pack can explicitly register supported instance content.
Midnight Content Expansion
Zul'Aman
- Added all 15 DAILY rares for tracking and Hunt Mode.
- Added documented coordinates and targeted cave/mechanic hints where appropriate.
Harandar
- Added all 15 DAILY rares for tracking and Hunt Mode.
- Added rare-elite flags and targeted cave/patrol hints for less obvious targets.
Voidstorm
- Added 14 The Ultimate Predator DAILY rares.
- Added 5 Stormarion EVENT rares as a separate group.
- Stormarion rares do not inflate the DAILY total from 14 to 19 and do not use DAILY NRA lifecycle rules.
- Added child-map navigation for targets located on map 2444.
- Added researched cave, patrol, summon and Blackcore-mechanic hints without inventing respawn timers.
The Coiled Isle
- Added 12 Coiled to Strike DAILY rares.
- Added 5 Cursed Surge EVENT bosses as a separate group outside 12/12 DAILY progress.
- Added child-map navigation for Szarith the Fanged in The Underbelly and Nar'zira in Tomb of the Lost Priest.
- Added researched entrance, patrol, interior and Farthik summon guidance without hardcoding uncertain respawn timers.
Existing Midnight Content
- Eversong Woods continues to use DAILY eligibility behavior.
- Val and Naigtal continue to use their separate EVENT lifecycle and remain outside Hunt Mode.
- Special-event vignette support remains available for mechanics where the pre-spawn object/event is visible before the rare itself.
Compatibility and Architecture
- Core remains the engine/plugin host while Midnight remains a separate content pack.
- Expansion compatibility is gated through the Content API/version contract.
- Midnight v0.8.8 requires PSW Hunt for the Rares Core v0.15.0 or newer.
- Mixed DAILY/EVENT groups and child-map navigation are implemented in shared Core rather than as one-off zone hacks.
Important Testing Notice
Voidstorm and The Coiled Isle are implemented from current game/database/achievement/guide research, but they have not yet been personally live-tested in-game by the addon author.
Because of that, coordinates, Hunt routing, event-state detection or special encounter mechanics in those two zones may need follow-up corrections.
If something behaves incorrectly, please report the rare, zone and what happened.
