ChatterNatter a modern chat addon focused on clean visuals

Description

ChatterNatter

A chat addon for World of Warcraft that cleans up the default chat UI and gives you control over how it looks and works. Open settings with /cn or /chatternatter.

Works on Retail (including Patch 12.0 / The War Within) and Cataclysm Classic.

Features

Chat

Copy Chat - Adds a copy button to each chat frame. Opens a searchable window so you can grab text easily. Works safely in combat.

Timestamps - Shows timestamps on messages. Format is configurable, default is [HH:MM].

Player Name Colours - Colours player names by class so you can tell who said what at a glance.

Channel Abbreviations - Shortens channel names in the chat prefix. Fully customisable. Reapplies automatically after zone changes and when entering dungeons or raids.

Loot and Currency Prefixes - Change how loot, gold, currency, reputation, and XP messages look.

Chat Tooltips - Better tooltips when hovering over links in chat.

URL Detection - Makes web links in chat clickable and copies them to your clipboard.

Keyword Highlighting - Highlights words or phrases you care about. Optional sound alerts per keyword.

Sticky Channels - Remembers the last channel you typed in.

Spam Filtering - Block messages by keyword, throttle repeated messages, and hide channel join/leave noise.

Sound Notifications

Get sound alerts for whispers, name mentions, guild, party, and raid chat. Each one can be toggled on or off. There is an ignore-self option so your own messages do not trigger alerts.

Appearance

Fonts - Pick a font for chat messages and a separate one for chat tabs. Supports fonts from the addon Fonts folder and LibSharedMedia-3.0. Adjust size and style.

Background Opacity - Make the chat background as transparent or solid as you like.

Line Spacing - Add a bit of breathing room between messages.

Fading Messages - Messages fade out after a time you set.

Tab Colours - Give each chat tab its own colour.

Padding and Margin - Tweak the space inside the chat frame.

Windows and UI

Minimalist Mode - Hides the default Blizzard chat decorations and replaces them with a clean in-frame tab bar. Optional glow on the active tab.

Resizable Windows - Drag to resize frames. Lock them so they do not move accidentally. Reset layouts with /cnresetwindows.

Scroll Indicators - Shows a marker when new messages have come in while you are scrolled up.

Scroll to Bottom Button - Appears when you are scrolled up. Click it to jump to the latest messages.

Smooth Scrolling - Animated scroll through chat history. Shift for fast, Ctrl for medium.

Tab Flashing - Tabs flash when new messages arrive.

Alt Names

Links your alt characters to your main name in chat. Builds the list from your guild roster automatically, and you can edit it manually from the settings panel.
