A simple addon to filter out some items from the chat window
Description
It's that simple!! I created the addon because I was tired of seeing all the "look at me I interrupted something" spam during dungeons and raids. There are far too many addons (for my liking) that spam chat about every little thing, so this addon was born.
Usage
Usage is simple.
The first time the addon loads, it will set some generic default filters. Currently, those are
- interrupted
- joined the raid
- left the raid
- left the instance
There is also an option to hide loot messages for other players (disabled by default, you can enable in the settings). Every time a boss kill happens and everyone is looting, I see 100+ messages hit my screen. This solves that problem and keeps the chat clean!
You can then open up the Options menu and toggle any of these on or off, as well as add your own custom filters. Anything coming in to chat that contains the keywords will be completely filtered out.
Beginning with my 2.5.0 release, wildcards are also accepted in the user defined filters, so you can build out more complex criteria.
For example, if you're trying to filter out guild recruiting spam, instead of just filtering on the word 'recruiting', which may have unintended consequences, you can set a filter for *guild*recruit* and block things like "my guild is recruiting" or "guild abc is looking for new recruits".
