Description
Trying to add more game flavor to players past game chat. Emergent 'character' comes out as you experiment triggering different buttons.
The current UI is designed around speed and intent, not visual density.
Emotes, animations, and voice reactions are grouped contextually to help you reach the right response faster in the moment... whether that’s a quick acknowledgment, a reaction to combat downtime, or a social interaction in the world.
The goal isn’t to expose every possible command at once, but to reduce hesitation and friction when choosing how your character responds.
Design Notes
-
Contextual grouping helps surface commonly used or situational responses
-
Reduces the need to remember or type specific
/commands -
Encourages expressive interaction without slowing down gameplay
-
Pairs with the panel’s fade behavior so interaction stays lightweight
This approach is intentionally opinionated and will continue to evolve as the UI improves.
Looking Forward
I plan to refine these groupings further and explore more flexible interaction models, including modular “LEGO-brick” chaining of emotes and reactions that can be mixed or sequenced together.
The long-term goal is to make character expression feel as immediate and natural as any other in-game action.
Feedback on grouping, flow, and moment-to-moment usability is welcome.
