BountyBoard — Player Bounty Hunting System
Turn world PvP into a bounty economy. BountyBoard lets players place gold bounties on enemy faction players and rewards hunters who track them down and land the killing blow. Every bounty is backed by real traded gold — no honor, no tokens, just cold hard coin.
How It Works
Someone ganked you in Hellfire? Put a price on their head. Any player running BountyBoard can see the contract and hunt them down for the payout.
Placing a Bounty Whisper the Bounty Master: !bounty Gankerx 500g — a small fee is added, you trade the gold, and the bounty goes live across the entire faction. Multiple players can stack bounties on the same target, compounding the reward.
Hunting a Bounty Install this addon, and every active bounty syncs to your client automatically. Find the target in the open world, land the killing blow, and the addon reports the kill with cryptographic proof. Trade the Bounty Master to collect your gold.
No Guild Required BountyBoard operates on a faction-wide shared channel. Anyone on your faction can place or hunt bounties — no guild membership needed.
Features
Live Bounty Dashboard
A full in-game UI showing all active bounties with sortable columns — target name, gold amount, number of contributors, and time listed. Updates in real time as bounties are placed, compounded, or claimed.
Proximity Alerts
Get notified when a bounty target is nearby. Three independent alert types you can toggle individually:
- Chat warning — red text alert with target name and bounty value
- Sound — raid warning sound effect
- Screen banner — large red banner drops in at the top of your screen, then fades out
Alerts fire when an enemy nameplate appears (~40 yard range), when you mouse over a target, or when you click to target them. Per-target cooldown prevents alert spam. All configurable.
Kill Detection & Authentication
The addon monitors your combat log for killing blows against bounty targets. Kills are authenticated with a session nonce and hash — no spoofing, no assists, no battleground farming. Only legitimate world PvP killing blows in the open world count.
Server Online/Offline Awareness
The client tracks the Bounty Master's heartbeat. If the server goes offline, you get a warning that kills won't be validated. When the Bounty Master comes back online, you get a notification with a sound alert so you know bounties are ready to collect.
Payout Leaderboard
See who's earned the most gold from bounty hunting. The Leaders tab ranks hunters by lifetime gold earned with kill counts. Top 3 get gold, silver, and bronze coloring. Your own rank is highlighted and shown in the footer.
Kill Log
Personal history of every bounty kill you've reported — target, zone, time, bounty amount, and confirmation status.
Auto-Discovery
Don't know the Bounty Master's name? Type /bbc discover and the addon finds the server automatically on the shared channel. It auto-registers you and starts syncing bounties immediately.
Minimap Button
Draggable minimap button with one-click UI toggle, right-click sync, and a tooltip showing server status, active bounty count, and pending payouts. Notification dot changes color based on state — green for active bounties, red when server is offline.
Whisper Commands (No Addon Required)
Anyone on the faction can interact with the Bounty Master via whisper — no addon needed to place bounties:

Everything is configurable from the Settings tab — no manual file editing:
- Server character name
- Auto-register on login
- Sound alerts toggle
- Proximity alerts: master toggle, individual text/sound/screen toggles, re-alert cooldown

Requirements
- WoW TBC Classic Anniversary (2.5.4+)
- A player running BountyBoard Server on your faction (ask your guild leader or server community)
- The server addon is a separate download for the player running the Bounty Master character
How Bounties Work — The Full Picture
- A player whispers the Bounty Master
!bounty TargetName 500g - A fee is calculated (default 10%) — total owed is 550g
- The player opens trade with the Bounty Master and puts in 550g
- The Bounty Master accepts — the bounty goes live and broadcasts to all clients
- A hunter spots the target in world PvP and gets the killing blow
- The client addon sends an authenticated kill report to the server
- The server validates the kill (timing, hash, location)
- The hunter trades the Bounty Master to collect the full bounty payout
- If multiple people placed bounties on the same target, all contributions are paid out
Cancellation: You can withdraw your bounty at any time with !cancel Name. Only your share is refunded — other contributors' bounties stay active. Trade the Bounty Master to collect the refund.
