Tired of slowing down to a crawl every time you walk through your dense Blue Jazz fields or a patch of grass on your farm?
By default, Stardew Valley applies a heavy movement speed penalty when walking through crops or grass. This mod removes that penalty entirely, allowing you to walk at full speed regardless of the terrain.
Comparison: Mod vs. "Ol' Slitherlegs"
In Stardew Valley 1.6, there is a power book called Ol' Slitherlegs (sold by the Bookseller) that reduces this penalty. However, it does not remove it completely.
Here is exactly how your speed changes in 4 different scenarios:
- 1. Default (No Mod, No Book)
You suffer a massive speed penalty (-100% drag). You walk very slowly through crops and grass. - 2. With "Ol' Slitherlegs" Book Only
The book reduces the penalty by about 67%. You move faster than before, but you are still slightly slowed down compared to walking on a path. - 3. With Swift Walker Mod Only
Zero Penalty. The mod completely neutralizes the slowdown. You walk through grass and crops at full normal walking speed. - 4. With Swift Walker Mod AND the Book
Zero Penalty (No Conflicts).The mod automatically detects that you have read Ol' Slitherlegs. It adjusts its math perfectly to ensure you walk at normal speed.You will not glitch out or run "super fast"—you will simply remain at your consistent, normal walking speed.
Installation
- Install SMAPI (4.0 or later).
- Download this mod and unzip the SwiftWalker folder into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.
- Run the game using SMAPI.
Compatibility
- Safe to Install/Uninstall: This mod does not permanently change your save file. If you uninstall it, the speed penalty will simply return.
- Crop Safety: This mod logic specifically ignores Seeds (Phase 0 crops), as the base game does not slow you down on seeds. This prevents accidental speed boosts when planting.
