Updated Injector (originally created by MAL22)

Description

What is that?

The Trait Tracker Injector (originally created by MAL22) is primarily used to enable inheritance of custom traits across Sim generations. Mods that implement this injector allow traits to be passed from parents to offspring, creating unique family lines with inherited abilities, such as dormant occult traits or special NPC-inherited skills. If you’re not using mods that directly depend on this Injector, you don’t need to install it!

After patch 1.110, several popular mods stopped working — including those relying on the Trait Tracker Injector. Since the original author hasn’t updated it, I stepped in to help the community. I fixed bugs introduced by the patch and completely reworked the injector script. All mods using this injector should now work correctly without requiring any changes on your part.

This updated version was first released on Patreon in October 2024, shortly after patch 1.110, and is now also available on CurseForge. While MAL22's original version has been abandoned, I’ve ensured it remains functional.

Important note

A similar injector is already included in the Lot51 Core Library, which many actively maintained mods now use instead. However, some older mods still rely on the original MAL22 injector — and this fix ensures they continue to function. Please, if you are using any mod that required Trait Tracker Injector, make sure that Trait Tracker Injector is still required and that the mod author has not replaced it with Lot51 Core Library.

How To Use

You only need to copy this one script file into your mod folder — place it directly into the Mods folder, not inside any subfolders. Do not copy any files from the original post, as they are not required and may cause compatibility issues or unexpected behavior in your game.

For modders

The usage and syntax of this updated version of the script remain entirely unchanged. You can continue using it in new mods exactly as described in the original post, without any need to modify your code or adjust how it’s integrated.
