Description
Today I have for you an overhaul of the Pottery activity in The Sims 4.
This includes overrides of the current EA current pottery startcrafting menus. Any mod that overrides the same files will be incompatible with this one. Yes, you can use the pottery wheel off the grid with this mod!
New Pottery Ingredients/Materials
With this mod, you have new materials to use as ingredients when crafting.
This includes:
-
Unprocessed Clay
-
Pottery Clay
-
Pottery Glaze
-
Pottery Unbreakable Glaze
-
Kintsugi Paint
How to get Pottery Ingredients
All pottery recipes will now call for at least 1 "pottery clay" when you craft the recipe.
To purchase these materials, you need to install "SCCO" or my "Go Shopping" mod.
If you do not have SCCO or Go Shopping, you will only be able to buy pottery ingredients from buy mode debug. Such as Glaze, Unbreakable Glaze, and Kintsugi Paint.
If you don't wish to buy your "Pottery Clay" you can also collect the raw materials and craft it yourself!
First, you want to go outdoors and look for fossils.

Once you collect a "Fossil Rock" you will find a new interaction to "Break into Pieces".

This will give you x5 "Unprocessed Clay".
Next, you will want to take your "Unprocessed Clay" that is in your sim inventory to the pottery wheel. Where you will find a new interaction to "Process Unprocessed Clay".

This will take x5 "Unprocessed Clay" and give you x3 "Pottery Clay".
You now have the required ingredients to make a ceramics item in an simi-immersive way.
Each recipe will have an ingredient of "Pottery Clay", depending on which recipe you will need various amounts of clay to fill the ingredient requirement.
Glazing and Kintsugi
Once you have made your pottery item, its time to glaze! In pottery, a glaze is a liquid suspension of finely ground minerals applied to bisque-fired ceramic ware, which, when fired, melts to form a glassy, protective, and decorative surface.
You will have 2 new ingredients that will be required to glaze your ceramics.
(Note: if you do not want this feature, delete the "glaze ingredient" package files.)

Pottery Glaze
-
Unbreakable Pottery Glaze

As you can probably guess, the "Pottery Glaze" is used for standard glazing. The "Unbreakable Pottery Glaze" is used for the unbreakable glazing.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
You have 1 new ingredient that will be required to repair your broken ceramics.
(Note: if you do not want this feature, delete the "Kintsugi ingredient" package files.)

Kintsugi Paint

Required Ingredients vs Optional Ingredients
By default crafting with ingredients is optional. You will be able to craft with money instead of using ingredients, or a mix of both.
If you have the Cottage Living "Simple Living" lot challenge active on your home lot all ingredients on the pottery wheel will be required. You will be unable to craft the recipe with money. Just like cooking.
