This mod more closely ties the Relationship Satisfaction system from Lovestruck to the Romance bar so satisfaction matters for day-to-day gameplay. It also fixes several EA bugs and tuning issues related to Relationship Satisfaction.

1. Modifies success chance for romantic socials

For all romantic socials, Relationship Satisfaction now modifies the success of the interaction based on the target’s Relationship Satisfaction with the acting Sim.

  • Very Satisfied → More likely to succeed
  • Satisfied → Slightly more likely to succeed
  • Unsatisfied → Slightly more likely to fail
  • Very Unsatisfied → More likely to fail

Basically, if your partner’s Relationship Satisfaction is good, flirts and kisses will land a bit easier. If your partner’s Relationship Satisfaction is bad, those same interactions are more likely to get rejected (but it's not meant to be impossible, you just need to set the mood).

In addition, Unsatisfied and Very Unsatisfied add extra penalties to commitment interactions. Proposing (or asking to be Boyfriend/Girlfriend) will be noticeably harder if your Sim’s partner isn’t happy in the relationship.

2. Modifies romantic gains and losses

Whenever the Romance bar goes up or down, this mod scales the change based on the lowest Satisfaction in the pair:

  • Very Satisfied → Bigger romance gains, softer losses.
  • Satisfied → Slightly bigger gains, slightly softer losses.
  • Unsatisfied → Smaller gains, slightly bigger losses.
  • Very Unsatisfied → Smallest gains, bigger losses.

In plain terms:

If both Sims are happy, romance climbs quickly and recovers easily from bumps. If either Sim is miserable, the relationship becomes more fragile and harder to grow. To progress romance consistently, you will now need to address issues with Relationship Satisfaction first.

3. Bug fixes & logic adjustments

Several issues in EA’s Lovestruck Relationship Satisfaction logic have been fixed or changed so Sims’ satisfaction changes match their own Romantic Style preferences and behave more logically.

  • Fixed all instances where a Sim's partner's satisfaction bonus wasn't being calculated correctly based on the partner's own preferences (it was using the other Sim's preferences instead).
  • Fixed a bug where a Sim's partner was losing satisfaction where they should've been gaining it.
  • Corrected illogical EA tuning where Sims with Romantic Style Turn-Offs were always getting a “buffer” that reduced how much relationship satisfaction they lost. Now, that buffer only applies when the Sim is empathetic* to their Partner's needs.

Example:

Alex has a Physical Intimacy Turn-Off and is Empathetic*. If Alex’s partner Taylor has a Physical Intimacy Turn-On and initiates intimacy, Alex will still lose satisfaction but the loss is softened because Alex is empathetic to the fact that Taylor enjoys it.

*Empathetic in this context means that the Sim doesn't have the Self-Absorbed or Insensitive trait, doesn’t have a negative sentiment toward their partner, and their romance track is greater than -20.

4. Romance Style Awareness

Sims in committed relationships will now respect their partner's romance style Turn-Offs when acting autonomously. If your Sim has Affection, Flirting, Physical Intimacy, or WooHoo set as a Turn-Off, their partner will think twice before pushing those interactions on their own.

How strictly a Sim respects their partner's preferences depends on their personality, the state of the relationship, and their own satisfaction. Sims who are unhappy, selfish, or emotionally checked out are more likely to act on their own impulses regardless of their partner's
