This mod adds random events during class, such as teacher calling on students, praising/scolding them, and students sneaking their phones trying not to get caught, and many more.

Description

This mod is still compatible with Patch 1.124

This mod requires High School Years and Lot 51's Core Library

This mod has three Optional Add-ons and one of them requires Parenthood GP. Make sure to remove that add-on if you don't have Parenthood GP Installed (read below).

This mod makes high school feel more alive by introducing randomized events during class.
Now, instead of simply standing around, teachers can automatically ask students questions, praise or scold them, and react naturally to classroom situations.

Students can also engage in other random high school moments, such as sneaking their phones during class and trying not to get caught. Sims around them will react to what’s happening, making the classroom feel much more realistic.

Teacher calling on students

Teachers will randomly call on one or two students each class and ask them questions.
If an active Sim is called on, a chance card will appear that corresponds to the subject.

For example, in Language Arts, the teacher might ask you to read a poem, and you can choose to read it emotionally, melodically, or dramatically. The outcome depends on the Sim’s skill level, grades, and luck.

Most chance cards don’t have a standard “correct” answer, but some do, and it should be obvious when that happens.
Answering correctly improves performance and gives positive moodlets, otherwise the student might be scolded, but that also depends on the teacher's traits and mood.

Each class includes two or three chance cards, with 21 total across all subjects.

At most, one active Sim can be chosen per class. Sometimes none. If an NPC student is selected, they’ll answer automatically.

Secondary Events

Besides teachers asking students questions, there are several other events that can happen during class, most notably students sneaking their phones.

They’ll have an interaction called “STOP SCROLLING NOW”, which immediately cancels the action. This can also be a self interaction if an active Sim is scrolling.

If they stay on their phone too long, the teacher will notice. The student will try to talk themselves out of the situation, and the teacher may either let them off or scold them. Outcomes depend on the traits of both the student and the teacher. If an active Sim gets scolded, their performance will drop significantly.

You typically have around three real-time seconds to react before it’s too late, like in the video below (you can pause the game before using this interaction):

Custom Traits

I also made a few custom traits to make the classroom feel more customized:

Class Royalty:

Greatly increases the odds of answering correctly (only for chance cards without a fixed answer). Other students will cheer when they answer correctly, and the teacher will not scold them for a wrong answer.

Available for A students for 500 satisfaction points.

Bottom Llama:

Greatly reduces the chance of answering correctly and increases the likelihood of being scolded, but other Sims will cheer if they get one right.

These traits can also be assigned manually to Class 1 NPC students, regardless of grade.
To assign manually: Shift-Click (testingcheats on) → High School Reimagined.

You can also assign Grumpy Teacher or Composed Teacher traits to the Class 1 teacher to adjust their likelihood of scolding.

Notes:

This mod only deals with classes, not exams or exam prep. There may be new mods for that in the future!

Sometimes teachers can get distracted and refuse to get ready for class. In this case you can click on them and choose "PUSH TEACH CLASS" so they'll automatically find the class 1 white board (this interaction isn't visible if they're already routing to the whiteboard/teaching, and is only useable on Class 1 teacher, which is the active Sims' teacher). This is very important because if they're not in position when the class begins, random events may not trigger for that class at all.

Other important things to keep in mind in order for this mod to function:

High School is very performance-heavy even without mods, which could be the reason why this mod was never part of the vanilla game. If you're on a low spec PC your experience WILL NOT be as smooth as in the videos, so you'll probably want to use a school lot with only minimum furniture, lighting and decoration, and turn off ailments and balance in the game's settings if you have Enchanted by Nature.

Even if you have a decent gaming PC it's still best to use a simple, basic high school lot without all the fancy deco and stuff, especially if your game is already laggy before class begins.

This mod is compatible with More Students at High School (I use the 24 Sims flavor) but only use it if your game runs smoothly. If you're already experiencing lag before class, it will only get worse once class begins.

Make sure there's at least one NPC student your class, otherwise random events may not trigger at all. Ideally, you should have more NPC classmates than active Sims (which means you should avoid sending too many active Sims to high school each time).

Make sure everyone stays seated. Sitting on the floor doesn't count.

I recommend removing any clutter around the desks and chairs (such as school bags, etc.). In rare cases, clutter can cause Sims to play musical chairs when answering the teacher’s questions or taking notes.

I also recommend disabling ailments and balance in the game's settings if you have Enchanted by Nature installed, as they can cause massive lag with high school.

Avoid making the classroom too large/wide, and make sure the teacher/whiteboard is not too far from the last row.

Make sure your active Sims go to class 1. The game is designed so that active Sims always go to class 1, so this mod only affects class 1 students and teacher. I've never seen a situation where active Sims end up in class 2 (except for exam prep which is not covered by this mod), but I thought I'd mention that just in case you've got some crazy stuff going on in your game.

The original idea of making such a mod came from CodeBleu (developer of the PlumbBuddy App), so I designed some PlumbBuddy easter eggs that you can encounter during class.

Add-Ons:

This mod has two optional add-ons that will require the main package and ts4script to function:

AddOn_NoEAChanceCards:

This one is an override that disables EA's chance cards so they don't trigger along with this mod. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED unless you have a mod that overrides them too (which probably doesn't exist yet).

AddOn_ParenthoodRequired:

This one adds a secondary event to the game but requires Parenthood GP

You must remove this add-on manually if you don't have Parenthood GP installed, otherwise the game will throw errors.

AddOn_NoPhoneBeforeClass

Prevents students from using their phones before class, so they'll start taking notes much sooner, which helps reduce lag.

They'll only take notes during Science, Computer Science, Foreign Language and Language Arts.

If You're Using Curseforge App:

If you've removed any Add-on file, CurseForge App will tell you the mod files might be corrupted and ask you to redownload. If the mod is working correctly in your game, you can ignore this warning.

Requirements:

High School Years (this should be obvious)

Lot 51 Core Library

Compatibility:

Except for the No EA Chance Cards add-on, this mod does not override any in-game resources and is very unlikely to conflict with other mods

Download Instruction:

Unzip the file and put all the files in the same folder. Put that fodler directly under the Mods folder.

Correct installation example, with the highlited "!" file removed if you don't have Parenthood GP installed:

Changelog:

Mar 21, 2025

Updated for patch 1.122. Fixed a typo in the strings.

Dec 30, 2025

Changed the consequences of getting busted for using a phone during class:
Students will now try to talk themselves out of the situation, and the teacher may either let them off or scold them. Outcomes depend on the traits of both the student and the teacher. If an active Sim gets scolded, their performance will drop significantly.

Dec 3, 2025

Fixed an oversight where a hidden interaction became visible in the queue. Added a new add-on: No Phone Before Class–Students will no longer use their phones before class. Also updated PlumbBuddy manifest so PlumbBuddy will alert you if you use the Parenthood Required Add-on without the pack installed.

Nov 24, 2025

Fixed an oversight where teachers with the "grumpy teacher" trait could get stuck after a student gave the correct answer.

Nov 21, 2025

This update allows random events to occur in a less predictable order. Teachers can now ask students questions during both halves of the class and may (or may not) resume teaching before asking a second student later. Secondary events can also trigger earlier, making the overall class feel more natural and varied.

The chance for active Sims to be called on by the teacher or to use their phones has been slightly reduced, making the mod more like a background experience.

Also changed the icon of a moodlet and fixed a typo in the strings.
