Description

REQUIRES ROYALTY & LEGACY EXPANSION PACK!!!

NOTE: This version has merged together with the old no alliances/rivalries version. Automatic alliances/rivalry changes are disabled by default unless enabled in the in-game mod settings.

Introduction

Hello! This mod automatically detects relationship changes in unplayed dynasties (such as marriage, childbirth, adoption, death) and changes the dynasty accordingly.

This makes it so dynasties will no longer just die out after every member dies, despite having living descendants who should take that place. (I'm really unsure why this wasn't a feature already, legacy is literally in the expansion name EA)

I grew bored of waiting for EA to patch this or for someone to make a similar mod, so I decided to learn some Sims 4 modding to create this. Please be mindful that there may be bugs or oversights in this mod, as this is my first time creating a Sims 4 mod and I am by no means an experienced programmer.

NOTE: This mod should only affect UNPLAYED households and dynasties. Any dynasties with a played sim will not be considered, even if the parent or marriage candidates are unplayed.

Settings

The mod's settings can be found in game through clicking on your active sim > Actions > Auto Dynasty/Inheritance Settings

These settings allow you to modify which parts of the mod you want to enable/disable, what roles a member requires to have their children/spouses added to the dynasty and any relationship threshold requirements.

How it works

Marriages/Children

When a dynasty member has a child or gets married, that new sim will then then be added to their dynasty.

By default, this only applies to head/heir sims, as I believed it would become crowded quickly.

If you want all dynasty members children/spouses to be added, set the below settings to 'All Dynasty Members':

  • Global Mod Settings > Dynasty Settings > Child/Adoption Settings > Required Parent Dynasty Role
  • Global Mod Settings > Dynasty Settings > Marriage Settings > Required Spouse Dynasty Role.

If both sims are in a dynasty, the highest level dynasty will take priority. In rare instances, this may lead to the lesser dynasty being destroyed if the married sim is the last one remaining.

Dynasty Heirs

Dynasty heirs are also calculated automatically based on relations to the head. A sim must meet the friendly relationship threshold with the head sim to be considered (+10% by default). If the existing heir falls below this, a new heir may be considered.

The heirs are priortised based on family relations to the head sim in this order: children (oldest to youngest) > spouse > siblings (oldest to youngest) > parents.

Any sims outside of these relations are not considered.

Once the dynasty head dies or steps down, the heir will take over the dynasty. If there is no heir, the dynasty will go to whichever member has the lowest rank number.

Dynasty Outcasts

Dynasty outcasts, too, are determined by the relations to the head sim. If a dynasty member has below the friendly relationship threshold with the head sim (-60% by default), they will become an outcast in the dynasty.

If an existing dynasty outcast's relationship with the head sim is above a threshold (+0% by default), the outcast status will be revoked and they will become a normal member again.

Noble Title Inheritance

Once a sim in the Noble career dies, their title may be inherited by one of their relatives automatically. This is built differently to the dynasty system. Once a sim inherits the noble rank, they will lose their previous jobs and will be given the noble career at the deceased's previous level.

To qualify to inherit a noble's rank, a sim must:

  • Be the deceased noble's child or spouse
  • Live in the same neighbourhood
  • Be at least a teen
  • Must meet the relationship threshold with the deceased noble (+0% by default)
  • Must not have a higher noble rank than the deceased noble.

The noble title inheritance priority is: dynasty heir (if child/spouse) > children (oldest to youngest) > spouse.

If no qualified sims are found, the noble rank will be lost unless manually reclaimed.

Automatic Alliances/Rivalries

THIS FEATURE IS DISABLED BY DEFAULT!!!

THIS WILL AFFECT EXISTING EA ALLIANCES/RIVALRIES IF THEY DO NOT MEET THE RELATIONSHIP NEEDS SET BY THIS MOD.

You can find the setting to enable it through Global Mod Settings > Dynasty Settings > Dynasty Relations (Alliances/Rivalries) Settings > [MASTER] Enable/Disable Automatic Dynasty Relations.

Based on the relationship between dynasty heads or the average relationship of a dynasty head with another dynasty's members, they may form alliances or rivalries. Existing alliances or rivals may also be ended if they no longer meet the relationship requirements.

The relationship requirements mentioned below are the default values and can be adjusted in the settings to your liking.

Alliances

An alliance will be formed if a dynasty head has either a +40% (or more) relationship with the other dynasty head OR a +25% (or more) average relationship across all dynasty members. Both dynasties must be within 3 prestige levels of each other to be considered for a new alliance.

Existing alliances will be ended if the dynasty heads have a negative relationship (0% or less) AND if they have a low average relationship across all dynasty members (5% or less).

Rivalries

A rivalry will be formed if a dynasty head has a -50% (or less) relationship with another dynasty head OR a -20% (or less) average relationship across all members.

Existing rivalries will be ended if the dynasty head has a +10% (or more) relationship with the rival dynasty head.
