Description
Create: Infinite Railways
Create: Infinite Railways is a revamp of the railway generation from Railways Untold. It is an addon to Railways Untold and requires it to be installed.

Much of the technical work this mod relies on comes from Railways Untold: the track placement, station handling, and the integration with Create's trains. Infinite Railways builds on top of that foundation to give the realistic look, so huge credit goes to the developer of Railways Untold. If you enjoy this mod, please go check out and support Railways Untold as well!
⚠️ Use a new world! This mod builds railways directly into your world and reshapes terrain around them. Installing it in an existing world may damage or overwrite structures you have already built. If you still want to try recommended procedure is: 1/ Back up your world. 2/ Add the mod and load the world, wait generation finished. 3/ Look around your builds and check that nothing was destroyed. 4/ If everything looks fine, you're good to go! If not, go back to your backup. A better way to add the mod to existing worlds may come in a future update.
Especially designed for use alongside large-scale terrain generation mods such as Tectonic or Lithosphere, Create: Infinite Railways brings railway networks to sprawling landscapes.
With this mod, villages are connected by railway lines, with stations, winding tracks, stone viaducts, and tunnels. Routes follow the landscape, finding their way through valleys, crossing rivers, and passing through hills and mountains.
Features
- Railways connecting villages.
- Routes that follow the terrain.
- Stone arch bridges and viaducts.
- Tunnels, embankments, and retaining walls.
- Optional double-track lines and passing stations.
- Automatically placed train signals.
Dependencies
- Create 6.0.10+
- Railways Untold 1.2.2.
Integration
Create: Steam ’n’ Rails
When Steam ’n’ Rails is installed, you can choose which track type the generated railways use (both colour and gauge), and generated signals can use its semaphore.
Electrification
The mod supports two options for railway electrification:
- Create: Pantographs & Wires
- Create: Electro Energetics
When either of these mods is installed, the mod can generate overhead wires and supporting masts along the tracks. For Create: Electro Energetics, only the track infrastructure is placed, no power source is connected to it.
Terrain and village mods
Create: Infinite Railways is designed to work with any world generation mod, especially large-scale terrain mods such as Tectonic and Lithosphere.
Any village mods (such as Towns and Towers) should also work, if they correctly use Minecraft’s village tag.
Railways Untold settings and features
To achieve these results, Create: Infinite Railways overrides a substantial part of Railways Untold’s generation behaviour. As a result, several Railways Untold options and settings will have no effect while Create: Infinite Railways is installed.
I recommend leaving the Railways Untold settings at their defaults and adjusting only the add-on's settings.
Railways Untold features that still work with the add-on:
- Track placement and continuity: the generated network is completely revamped, but the infinite track remains at its core.
- Station datapacks: you can use your own station schematics and per-biome station settings by following the Railways Untold datapack instructions. For two-track stations, make sure the tracks run along the schematic's Z axis; tracks laid along the X axis will be rejected by Railways Untold's validation.
- Starting train option: including the datapack to customise it.
- Automatic Create station setup: station blocks are placed at village stops, with procedurally generated names.
Railways Untold features that are disabled by the add-on:
- Events: because the network is planned ahead and fully connected, the Railways Untold event system does not work with this add-on. I'm looking into ways to bring it back.
Known issues and limitations
- Network connections: The railway network is intended to be fully connected, but oceans can prevent some connections. Island stations and coastal stations may end up as dead ends.
- Overhead wire supports: Catenary mast placement still has issues in tunnels and around switches, especially on double-track lines.
- Structure avoidance: Avoidance of structures is not fully implemented, so railways may pass through some generated structures. Villages are protected.
