Description

LotusResourceTick

A minimal, non-intrusive tick indicator built directly into your standard Blizzard UI power bar. No custom frames, no extra windows — just a thin line that tells you exactly when your next resource tick lands.

Why?

Classic's Energy and Mana regeneration both happen in fixed ticks roughly every 2 seconds. Knowing precisely when the next tick lands lets Rogues, Cat Form Druids, and Mana classes time their openers and ability usage for maximum resource efficiency — without cluttering your interface with a whole new resource-tracking addon. Warriors and Bear Form Druids get the same idea applied to Rage decay: a line that shows exactly when you're about to bleed Rage while out of combat.

Features

  • Standard UI integration — draws directly on top of the existing power bar on the default PlayerFrame. No repositioning, no separate frame to manage.
  • Energy, Mana & Rage support — automatically detects your active resource and tracks the correct one. Switches seamlessly when a Druid shifts between Cat Form (Energy), Bear Form (Rage), and Caster Form (Mana).
  • Self-correcting sync — the indicator anchors itself to real, observed events rather than a fixed guess, so it stays accurate over time instead of drifting.
  • Honest confidence display — when a tick can't be observed directly (e.g. resource pool full), the indicator keeps running on its last known timing but dims slightly to show it's now an estimate rather than a confirmed sync.
  • Configurable — adjust bar width, transparency, and pick a color per resource (Energy/Mana/Rage), or disable any of the three individually — all from a proper settings panel, no slash commands needed.
  • Fully localized — UI available in all official WoW client languages.
  • Featherlight footprint — a handful of small Lua files, no external libraries.

Supported Resources

Resource Supported Notes
Energy ✅ Rogues, Cat Form Druids — ticks every 2s while gaining
Mana ✅ Any Mana-using class/form — ticks every 2s while gaining
Rage ✅ Warriors, Bear Form Druids — Rage has no periodic tick while gaining in combat, but decays on a real rhythm out of combat. The indicator shows that decay instead (reversed direction), with the interval learned live from your own observed decay ticks rather than a hardcoded guess

How It Works

The addon watches your power value every frame. Whenever it detects a real tick (Energy/Mana increasing, or Rage decreasing out of combat), it re-anchors its internal timer to that exact moment. Between ticks — or when a value is capped/idle and no change is observable — it keeps looping on the known interval, dimming slightly the longer it's been running on an estimate rather than a freshly confirmed tick.

Configuration

Open Interface Options → Lotus → ResourceTick to adjust:

  • Bar width
  • Transparency
  • Bar color per resource (Energy / Mana / Rage)
  • Enable/disable the indicator per resource

Compatibility

Built for WoW Classic Era. Touches only the existing PlayerFrameManaBar — no UI replacements, no taint-prone hooks into secure frames.

Part of the Lotus Addon Family

LotusResourceTick is one of several small, focused addons built for a tight-knit guild — each one solving a single specific problem without bloating the interface.
