Presence Footsteps — Major Update Changelog

🐛 Bug fixes (existing entries)

  1. block.mud.step — six references pointed to mud/muffledice_walk_walk1‑6.ogg, a filename that doesn't exist (extra _walk). Fixed to the real files mud/muffledice_walk1‑6.ogg, and the two repeated groups now pull from muffledice_walk7‑10 instead of repeating 1‑4, so all 10 available samples are used.
  2. block.pink_petals.step — referenced leaves_through8, 9, 10, 11, none of which exist in the petals/ folder (only 1‑7 are present). Rebuilt the sound list to cycle through the real leaves_through1‑7 samples with the same volume/pitch‑tier pattern you were already using.
  3. block.snow.step — referenced snow_wander6.ogg, which doesn't exist (only wander1‑5 were exported). Swapped it for snow_wander1.

✨ Enhancements to existing entries (previously unused samples)

  1. block.stone.stepstone_wander1‑5.ogg existed on disk but were never referenced. Appended them using the same volume/pitch as the existing stone_walk group, matching how grass/gravel/snow already mix in their wander sets.
  2. block.bamboo_wood.stepsqueakywood_walk6, walk7, and wander7 existed but weren't used. Added them at the end of the list.

🆕 New sound events (previously unused sample folders)

These sample folders existed in the pack but weren't wired to any vanilla sound event. I matched each set to the closest real Minecraft block.*.step event by material/feel:

New event Samples used What changes
block.dirt.step dirt/ (all 31 files: walk/run/wander/land) Dirt, Coarse Dirt, Podzol and Farmland use a distinct Dirt sound type in vanilla, separate from Grass Block/Mycelium/Dirt Path (which stay on block.grass.step, already covered).
block.deepslate.step concrete/ (27 files) Deepslate has its own vanilla sound type; the concrete set's dense, blocky tone fits it well.
block.calcite.step marble/ (29 files) Calcite is a distinct vanilla sound type; the marble set's bright, resonant tone is a close aesthetic match.
block.polished_deepslate.step lino/ (14 files) Polished Deepslate is its own vanilla sound type and is used as a "tile/flooring" block — a good fit for the smooth linoleum-style samples.
block.copper.step metalbar/ (29 files) Copper (and the Copper Bulb family) has its own vanilla sound type; the metal-bar set gives it a lighter clink distinct from block.metal.step.
block.powder_snow.step weakice/ (10 files, reused w/ pitch variation for 16 entries) Powder Snow is a distinct vanilla sound type with a soft, sinking feel — matches the "weak ice" sample name/intent better than actual ice (which shares block.glass.step).
block.hanging_roots.step brush/ (11 files, reused for 16 entries) Hanging Roots has its own vanilla sound type; the "brush_through" naming/style matches a foliage-brushing sound.
block.stem.step bluntwood/ (16 files) Crimson/Warped Stems use a distinct, duller Stem sound type separate from block.wood.step — matches "bluntwood" naming.
block.azalea_leaves.step leaves/ (7 files, reused for 14 entries) Azalea Leaves have their own distinct vanilla sound type, separate from the generic leaves rustle. (Note: leaves/ and petals/ contain identical sample sets —
block.scaffolding.step deckwood/ (11 run files only, reused w/ pitch variation for 16 entries) Scaffolding has a distinct vanilla sound type; only run samples exist for this set (no walk/wander), so they're reused across both tiers — flagging in case
block.sulfur.step quicksand/ (11 files, reused for 16 entries) Sulfur is a new block sound type added in Java Edition 26.2 "Chaos Cubed" (sulfur cubes/pools). The quicksand set's soft, sinking granular tone fits the sulfur pools well.
