Hey there! Today is the birthday of Prismarine V2.0 which was the first version of Prismarine the BSL edit. It's been a year. My shader underwent major changes: from simple color tweaks to path tracing, from random value BSL edit to a pack which has its own unique look. Today I'm releasing a new version of Prismarine - V4.0a! I finally finished rewriting and I'm quite happy with what I've got so far.
Features added/changed:
+ New blur filtering for volumetrics
+ New water refraction. It uses a water mask now instead of albedo.rgb check
+ New water normals (stolen from BSL 7.2). They have A LOT more configuration now
+ New emissives in integrated emission
+ New SSGI denoiser. It's much faster and better now
+ New nebulas. They're based on the old ones but are (shortly) more optimized and just better
+ New planar clouds. They're no longer blocky, but instead are semi-realistic and pretty fast
+ New configuration menu. It's still WIP and will have much more customisation soon
+ Tweaked water caustics
+ Tweaked translucency blending and water absorption. They look much better and more eye pleasing now
+ Tweaked auroras
+ Tweaked profiles and various settings. Everything looks different now
+ Cleaned up the code in general and did a whole bunch of small tweaks and improvements. My main aim was to make things consistent and increase performance
Features fixed:
Fixed broken TAA jittering
Features removed:
- Per biome fog (temporarely)
- Outlines
- Retro filter
- Toon lightmap
- Perlin noise for volumetric clouds. It's generated from a texture now
- Separate overworld volumetric fog option. It's only present in form of foggy light shafts now
- Fog blur
- Blocklight & Bloom flickering
- Twilight Forest support (probably temporarely)
- Dual layered fog. It only has one layer now which changes in different conditions
- Some super secret options. Expect new ones soon!
