WinterCraft-Eternal Winter-0.5.2 Beta
What's new
Small fixed... again. Kind of.
WinterCraft 0.5.2 Beta Changelog
- F3+H now properly disabled by default – it was stuck enabled for everyone. I finally noticed. You're welcome. Now you can play without item IDs cluttering your screen. Unless you actually want them. Then turn it back on yourself.
- Updated all mods to the latest versions – some of the newest releases were marked as beta before, so they didn't auto-update. I hunted them down manually. Everything should be current now. Probably. Don't check too closely.
- Removed Snowy Biomes: Enhanced (for now) – it was acting SUS. Performance-wise. Functionality-wise. Just... weird vibes. It might come back later. It might not. I haven't decided. For now, it's gone.
- Fixed some quests – not many. Just a few stragglers that were broken. You probably won't notice, but I'll sleep better.
- Added animated background to Edit World screen – I forgot I added this. Saw it again. It's pretty. Moving on.
- Render distance lowered from 16 to 14 – a desperate attempt to save your CPU from spontaneous combustion. Every chunk matters when everything is frozen.
- Performance improvements – I tried. Genuinely. Added cache for mob NBT lookups, throttled pathfinding in snow, optimized Quark's feeding trough spam, and told Rare Ice to stop updating itself 20 times per second for no reason. It helped. A bit. But the snow... the endless snow... and all the AI running under it... it's a lot. I'm still fighting. Send warmth.
- Throttled pathfinding makes spiders move unpredictably – I don't even know why. They just... wander differently now. It's weird. But honestly? Feels more realistic. Spiders shouldn't have perfect GPS. Realistic point +1. Bug or feature? You decide.
- Slowly working on a snow-free edition – a version of this pack without eternal winter. Same brutal hardcore survival, just less snow. And maybe more FPS. No promises. But I'm thinking about it. Dreaming of it. We'll see.
- Known bug: vanilla mushrooms block the player – if you try to walk through a regular Minecraft mushroom, you can't. You have to break it. I have no idea why. I don't know how to fix it yet. Just... break the mushroom. We'll figure this out later. Sad.
Stay cold. Stay alive. Or at least suffer with slightly better FPS.
