Description
What is this?
Much like the majority of my other modpacks, this is a PVP-based warfare pack inspired by the classic "Voltz" developed by Technic for Minecraft 1.5.2. While these packs are typically highly refined and often contain purpose-written mods, The Bleeding Edge is highly experimental, containing minimal customization and making extensive use of alpha/beta releases and favors lighthearted experimentation over ruthless competition. The goal is to allow for rapid development and substantial changes mid-season that can inform the future development of the aforementioned competitive packs.
Official Server
As you may have guessed, the design of this pack requires a community of other players to compete against. I would highly recommend that you join my Discord (discord.gg/EKeM7Jz) for the full experience, but if you don't want to join for whatever reason you can still join the official server at play.jdawg3636.com. You are also welcome to create your own servers, but given the experimental nature of the pack I will not be providing server files or instructions of any kind. If you have the technical knowledge to administer a server then you should have no problem creating the files on your own.
Gameplay
The pack starts by expanding the tools at players' disposal by adding a powerful roster of tech mods, including DimStorage for transporting items and fluids over arbitrary distances, Industrial Foregoing for automating in-world tasks such as mining trees and planting crops, Mekanism for everything from tools to ore processing, and Refined Storage for easily storing all of your items in a single convenient access terminal. Throw in a few more advanced automation mods to fill in the gaps, such as Blue Power's expansive redstone additions and CC: Tweaked's computers and mining turtles, and suddenly even solo players can easily assemble a diverse arsenal.
Tech by itself doesn't lend itself to a very immersive experience, so the pack also includes magic-based mods such as Vampirism to allow for a fun, unorthodox route to gaining a competitive advantage and atmospheric mods such as Biomes O' Plenty and Corpse to spruce up the world and make everything feel just a bit more real. Round it all out with some silly additions, such as Ender Mail for turning endermen into a package delivery service, Rats for (among other things) constructing a portal to Ratlantis, and of course my very own Bleach Mod, and the result is a nuanced competitive experience based on the bleeding-edge (roll credits) platform of Minecraft 1.16.
I would normally include a complete mod list here, but given how often I intend to change it that seems like a bad idea. If you view this page from the website (not the launcher), then clicking on the "Relations" tab will show you list of all of the mods that have ever been included in any version. The mod list for the currently installed version is displayed in the launcher.
