Known Issues Below

-Realistic torches is currently somewhat redundant. (This is due to a mod adding its own light source which currently is craftable regardless of your 'gamestage')

-Copper Ore from the mod Ice and Fire drops as a copper ore block instead of a raw copper resource.

Somethings lurking in the shadows... ;)

May 2, 2024

As of right now, this modpack is dead. About a week ago, my boot ssd bricked and this drive contained all of the files for Eras. With no available backups, i am unable to work on the modpack from where i had started at the beginning of the month. I am seeking out a data recovery company that will hopefully be able to restore all of my files, but those that i have seen are too expensive for me at this moment with the bills i have to pay. Within a few weeks however, i will be able to send them the drive to see if the data is recoverable. This is a 3-4 day process to determine if it is recoverable. With the best outcome i will be able to recover all my files which will be a 3-4 week process after. Essentially, it will be nearly two months if i can get the data back. If i can't, we'll see what happens.

As promised (although still a little late lol) i have posted what i consider a sizeable content update. A lot has been added, and a lot has been removed. The biggest change i made was removing the research quests and research point item. I thought about it for a while and figured that it doesn't feel appropriate to minecraft, and it would be simpler for me, as well as being less laggy (im bad at scripting), so i decided to remove the research portion entirely. As of now, no scripts are in place that stop you from getting 'late game' items in the 'early game', but I do intend to still have 'Eras' in the form of unlockable gamestages. I believe that the modpack should flow better (with more development of course) with the removal of the research, as when you follow the quests, it functions roughly similar to unlocking those items anyways. Essentially, if you choose to follow the questline you'll basically have the same result as when there was a research tree. This makes it much faster for content to come, as i have less work to do when i add quests.

I still intend to commit to end of month updates on the modpack. I have not had access to my computer nor internet connection for nearly 2 weeks. I will be posting a sizeable content update at the end of march assuming all goes well. I have made a lot of progress noting down what i intend for improving the quests, I only have to implement it.

January 31, 2024

Released the 0.06 update for the end of January (Technically Feb 1st because I was finishing up some things i was working on until like 4am)

I'm reasonably satisfied with what I was able to add in this update, albeit a small one. After all im just one guy, and an amateur with this stuff.

There's a lot that i wish to add by the end of February if possible, and that's shared below.

-Add a texture for the new research point (I really don't know how to do this, but ill figure it out)

-Find a method of making the research point an item that either isn't droppable, or isn't an item at all and still can work with my research trees in the ftb quests.

-Add more quests to start fleshing out the medieval era, so that the modpack is at least somewhat playable without cheats.

-Add more research trees for different item unlocks

-Add rewards to quests that i've hidden and make them accessible to provide more content in the modpack (There are some collectible type quest lines, like gathering all the swords, ores, and killing all the mobs and whatnot... I just don't have any rewards for them so they're essentially useless.)

-Add rewards (gamestage unlocks) for currently useless quests in the research trees

And lastly, here is my general design philosophy with the modpack as of now:

I personally really enjoy the idea of researching to unlock new things to craft and fill my world with, but I'd like to find a method that doesn't force the player to focus on a specific quest line just to get something with a small impact. For example, silver ores, tools, and armors are in the modpack, but I don't want to completely stop the player from progressing quickly to iron, or diamond equipment, so I intend to make the researching process pretty fluid, and let you choose what you want to do in your world.  Although I'm not even 100% sure I'm doing that right now lol, especially considering you must mine silver ore, craft silver ingots and research the silver forging stuff in the quest lines, to get to the iron and diamond stuff later. Minecraft can generally go by pretty quickly though and I intend to ensure that the spawning rates of the less valuable ores are appropriate, so you are'nt wasting time looking for silver while having a ton of iron you cant use.

I also want to properly flesh out the questing in relation to mods like Ars Elemental, and Blood Magic so you can jump away from the 'main' questline and pick what you'd like to work on. I've generally just overwhelmed myself at this point with how many mods I added when I first started on the modpack, and on top of that I'm not very knowledgeable in those mods so working out the questlines for those is going to take some time.

December 31,2023

Earlier in the month, when i stated that i would still be working on the modpack, I was under the assumption that id be able to do as much as i had planned for. This was not the case as some health issues popped up in my family. That being said, i did work on the modpack and finish some of the things i had wished to finish. Right now, with the update the modpack is not as playable as i would like to see it, if even at all. So below ill be providing some commands to use in order to access all of the content in the modpack. I still fully intend to work on the modpack, and i will commit to an update at the end of every month, although they may be very small.

YOU MUST USE CHEATS ON YOUR WORLD

My server with friends was shut down. I lost motivation to work on this for a long while, but I finally want to make something great. I am rebranding it as Eras, as during development of SSS I had a switch up in the general area I wanted to go towards. <s>I am going to release a pretty big update when I finish what I originally laid out for 0.5 (now 0.0.5 since going to 1.0 this early into dev doesn't feel appropriate), or by the end of December, whichever comes first.</s>

This is something simple I'm putting together for my own server with friends.

I picked mods that I thought looked very enjoyable, and at least somewhat fit the general idea I was going with.
