Description
Challenging automation puzzles, rewarding exploration-based magic, and all-around silliness. This is my attempt at making a modpack perfectly catered to myself, with my own personal favorite style of gameplay.
This is a kitchen-sink modpack. (There's currently no questbook, but I have plans to add one.)
On the tech side of things- The most fun part of Minecraft's tech mods is figuring out how to automate your gameplay with limited tools given to you. This pack tries to minimize the "one magic block" type of mods in favor of multiblock solutions. You'll have to move items around with clunky Buildcraft pipes, and transport power with the Tech Reborn cables that have a tendency to burn. The main methods of automatic mining are the Quarry and the Lens of the Miner. Your tree farm will either be very vanilla-like with observers and pistons, or a large Steve's Carts railroad setup. There are multiple auto-crafting options, practically begging to be put to use with a complicated but powerful HarvestCraft recipe. You can make physical mass-storage with Simple Storage Networks and Magneticraft's shelving units until you unlock Applied Energistics 2's lategame networking. In short, technological progression in this modpack is a series of challenging but highly rewarding puzzles.
On the magic side of things- Botania is the main option, allowing for some integration with the tech and automation. Electroblob's Wizardry is a nice complement to this group of mods, allowing for more depth in combat. Both of these mods highly encourage exploration, whether it be for finding rare flowers or finding wizard's towers, and to further reward exploration and getting geared up for combat, Roguelike Dungeons and Doomlike Dungeons are present. In addition to those new dungeon challenges, Traverse pretties up the world and adds new interesting biomes, so your trekking is never boring, and ChocoCraft's rideable birds make the experience faster and painless.
As for miscellaneous mods, this pack still keeps the fun, semi-goofy spirit of the 1.7.10 packs we all love. Morph, Portal Guns, and Hats are all present, as well as Audio Death featuring six different custom death sounds. Tinker's Construct is available if you want custom tools and armor, as well as the Tool Leveling add-on so that you can grind your way to overpoweredness. A few choice building mods help you pretty up your factories. Multiplayer utility mods are included, so it's perfect for servers. A very, very wide variety of quality-of-life mods make your life easier in little ways you never knew you needed.
And finally, it's all tied together with a subtle polish. The loading screen and menus are customized, JEI's item list has been mostly cleaned up from creative-only and repetitive entries, and the in-game ores/resources are all automatically unified for inventory cleanliness.
TL;DR, I have tried my best to strike a balance between the most fun parts of challenging technical play and the most fun parts of casual silly Minecraft. I hope you enjoy The Stev Pack.
