On our test server, upgrading to 1.1.0 has worked fine - you will obviously not have Forestry trees & bees in chunks previously spawned.
If upgrading from 1.0.2 or below, you will need to /fml confirm from the server console as the FutureVersions blocks will throw an error (as the mod was removed in 1.0.3.
