Description
Project is in beta. Many issues may still be present. You'll have to turn on "Show alpha files" in the "files" section if you're downloading the zip file directly from the website. Latest version is currently 0.9.1
Medium size (209 mods) kitchensink pack with a focus on performance and gameplay rather than a huge amount of new content. Every mod in this modpack is something I've used before and find enjoyable. That being said, this is mainly a conquest-oriented modpack. This means you'll have to fight bosses to progress, but you'll also need advanced tech and magic to produce endgame items. You can choose what weapon type you'd like to use: melee, guns, or magic. All three roughly keep up with each other toward the end of progression. Gun users will have to grind advanced materials to get endgame weaponry. Magic users will have to grind through a lot of levels of spell scrolls, and melee users will have to heavily augment existing equipment or get the advanced materials to keep up toward the end.
8GB RAM should be good, but I recommend 12-14. I also recommend that you change your controls to what feels best for you the first time you play the pack!
Difficulty & Gameplay Mechanics:
Homeostatic, Improved AI, Scaling Health, Nutritional Balance, and True Darkness are included to make the survival gameplay a little more challenging, but there's also a healthy amount of other gameplay mechanic mods, such as floating damage numbers, health bars, the Better Combat mod, et cetera. Improved AI enables mobs to besiege your home. Build defenses to keep them out. Parcool adds parkour to the game, giving you skill-based mobility even without jetpacks and such. You can also use shaders, though I don't recommend it because True Darkness doesn't work with shaders on.
Tech:
Mekanism is the tech mod I focused on, for simplicity's sake, but I've also added Electrodynamics, Nuclear Science, and Ballistix for fun (And there's some compatibility between Mekanism and Electrodynamics). Did I mention that Scorched Guns is also in this modpack? Thermal Series is here, too. Lastly, I added ValkyrienSkies Eureka so you can build ships. Ships will be your main mode of travel until you acquire endgame mobility equipment. I don't recommend attempting to build mobile bases, though.
Magic:
The main magic mods are Iron's Spells and Spellbooks and Mahou Tsukai, but you can also get various magic items from other mods, such as Relics and Artifacts. You also have ProjectE to work with (but the philosopher's stone is a late-game item, and Ender Eyes aren't transmutable). Naturally, Apotheosis is here too. Lastly, Mystical Agriculture is here for you to automate in that fashion, if you so desire. It tends to synchronize well with tech.
Exploration:
Overworld generation is vastly overhauled by Tectonic. Distant Horizons enables you to take in the grandiose landscapes this mod provides. (there are optimization mods in the pack that'll make this more accessible to people with low and mid-range hardware). There's also lots of types of dungeons for you to explore, as well as new dimensions added by Ad Astra, the Twilight Forest, and Deeper and Darker. All three of these mods are essential to complete for progression, so don't worry about never getting to them. So, get ready! You've got some exploring to do!
Go forth and write the Tale of Gods!
