Description
This modpack aims to create an immersive survival experience. Work your way up from stone axes and campfires to mining drills and flamethrowers!
Better With Mods (with hardcore enabled!) is included to extend the early-game survival experience. It also gives death a serious penalty, respawning you randomly within a 4000 block radius of spawn!
Immersive Engineering gives a lofty goal to reach as the end game.
Extended Days changes the day/night cycle to 40 minutes of day and 20 minutes of night to give a fair chance of surviving the first night, as well as making exploring the landscape much more doable.
Dungeons2 with customised loot tables gives exploration a decent payoff.
NetherEx makes the Nether a more challenging and useful place to visit.
Hardcore Darkness makes nights, caves, dungeons, and the Nether extra creepy!
A suite of tweaks and quality of life mods have been included to make playing as streamlined as possible.
A typical playthrough will look like this:
1. Forage for resources and create a small base to survive the first night. Dip your toes into surface caves and scrounge enough iron to make a pickaxe.
2. Fortify your base. Begin to dig deeper into the earth. Craft basic gear to defend yourself. Create farms to get a steady supply of food.
3. Design mechanical contraptions for a modicum of automation. Delve into the ruined dungeons around the landscape to get precious materials and gear.
4. Craft (or loot!) a diamond pickaxe to get some obsidian to make a portal to the Nether! Use resources unique to the Nether to work your way up to an industrial revolution.
5. Master the environment with powered tools, heavy machinery, and flying airships! Create sprawling factories and expand your influence over the land.
Note that some minor changes have been made to the server config. Players can set their spawn in multiplayer and will only respawn in a 400 block radius instead of 4000. This is because playing with your friends is more important than immersion, in my opinion. You can easily change this by just copying the better with mods config file into your server.
