Description

 

 

 

 Sticks N' Stones

is a hardcore modpack designed to give the player a challenge that succeeds Blood N Bones ( for those of you that have played it).

 

 

 Features:

-- 12 levels of tool progression! With over 30+ new metals and tool variants that are compatible with tinkers construct to give you plenty of options. Progression is strict and slow. Vanilla weapons and armor have been disabled to provide you with an experience that pushes you to build and craft through a more involved system. (You can no longer punch clay to gather it, you need a level I tier Shovel, along with many more restrictions that force certain tools to be used)

a)Food now has diminishing returns that force you to eat a variety. (No more making a stack of bread)

 

b)Food gives visible saturation now which is similar to the health absorption. (i.e. Food shanks will not visibly be drained until the players saturation has been drained)-Vanilla features a hidden saturation level. With my modpack the vanilla saturation loss along with exhaustion have been increased. A player must choose where to sprint, jump and even fight more wisely!

Hitpoints have been touched on to provide players a natural absorption bar instead of damage reduction from armor. (Armor has Damage Reducing traits that I've removed in favor of an absorption layer depending on the points provided by your armor) Taking hits will not affect your player health until the absorption bar is depleted, whereas with vanilla armor you'd take damage to your health points directly albeit for less. This includes taking the slightest fall damage. *But you won't have to worry with absorption, granted you've armor equipped!

Health loss mechanics have been implemented to give certain de-buffs to your player. The lower your health the higher the level of de-buffs. (e.g. The less hearts remaining the more your de-buff stats increase Slowness I-III, Mining Speed I-III and Weakness I-III)

Hunger drain has been increased and will now be drained even when standing still. De-buffs will be applied similar to Health loss the lower your food shanks.

a)Special AI for mobs (passive and aggressive) allow cows, sheep, chicken etc.. to fight back for their lives whether player or mob is attacking them.

 

b)Mobs will now attempt to destroy light sources (because they like the dark duh!) and break certain player made items to prevent you from having a peaceful day/night.(Creepers also want to join in on this because they're upset they've no arms)

Lycanites Mobs provide you with additional creatures that will keep you on-edge! Adding several new mobs from elementals to fantasy and abominations. Some of these creatures will allow taming and summoning that enable you to interact with them and set them to defense, assist, wander etc..! (You may even get lucky enough to mount a pet and ride/fly one as well as use abilities!)

Harvesting has been improved and many, many new foods are able to be acquired and cooked! Pam's harvest gives you all the food you will need! Food will NOT grow as fast if the biome is not favored by the plant. Food also needs direct sunlight to grow now. (So don't try to grow wheat in the desert!)

Custom recipes have been added to follow Blood N Bones very carefully. Wood requires a saw or sawmill to obtain more planks! Torches are harder to craft and charcoal has been nearly removed from the game. (You can't just collect a log and burn it for light anymore!) 100's of recipes have been modified for tools and weapons.

Bloodmoons occasionally will appear and when they do you will be notified. It's best you get to shelter "if you have any". Monsters will spawn at an accelerated rate under a bloodmoon and you will not be able to sleep through the nights! The moon emits a red light that turns your night a bloody tint.

Light has been custom configured to give off a realistic light level at night based on real world statistics. The albedo level of the moon including it's phases have been appropriately changed to reflect. (pun intended) :D

Dynamic lighting will allow certain items like torches, glowstone dust, gold armor etc.. to emit a light even when not carried. You are now able to walk with a number of "light emitting" items in your "off-hand" to provide you with light as you travel the night or tunnels of caves.

Cosmetic armor allow you to hide what you are wearing to allow another set of armor to be shown via a second second armor tab. (If you like the way your custom skin looks you can keep your armor hidden to show off that too!)

Biomes O' Plenty has been added to provide you with a beautiful world to explore and many biomes to see! Beware that many creatures will be found in different biomes. So be prepared to encounter a new creature when first stumbling upon a new area!

For the tech savvy players, I have added a few tech mods that allow you to really take-off. Thermal Expansion and Project Red have been included and work well with one another. You can also build computer related machines that will even help you dig! REMEMBER recipes will be much more difficult for machines now, if you're used to old crafting recipes.

Blood Magic allows the player to exchange their own life points for certain enhancements and a new and interesting way to play! You can have endless water or lava at your finger tip. All for the price of your blood! You will have many options with this mod.

Magical Crops give you the ability to create items including some that you would have to work extremely hard to obtain. Now you can tend your magical garden alongside your food garden. You can go from harvesting carrots to harvesting leather! It will be tough to progress however.

Dungeons have been added to give the player an extreme challenge (as if it wasn't already hard). You will find several dungeons that look like towers scattered across the world. Going in you can find a surplus of loot..but you will need to fight your way through several levels to find them!

Thirst is now a stat you must upkeep alongside your hunger! Several ways to drink water, including drinking from the rain itself. Be careful though, if you don't purify your water before you drink it you could end up thirstier! (1 step forward and 2 steps back)

Backpacks were added to allow you to travel in case you just can't seem to find a biome you like.. or because the horde is still chasing you!

 

--

It's a deadly world and sometimes you just break the wrong block.. watch out for silver fish when mining along with many other surprises that await you in the mines.

 

--

Gases will now be sometimes found throughout the underground and if you don't watch where you're mining your torch could ignite a very serious chain reaction and it could cost you everything you went down there with! You can wear certain items to help with respiration in certain gas clouds also!

I have provided a few mods that help you in the inventory to assist with moving items and cleaning up the toolbars. Auto replacing tools and blocks when you need them. Hold shift and left click to sweep your inventory items to send them to a chest with extreme speed! You can look up items Uses/Recipes with a configurable hotkey.

A hud will give you extra info on the exact amount of damage you're dealing as well as durability points of your armor, a tool/weapon durability as well.

When you kill your first mob you will notice that they die in a rather dismembering way.

Several new boats have been added to help with your adventure. They provide many uses including chests and can be roped to one another!

You will be provided with a map to assist you in direction. Not the fanciest map but it stays true to Blood N Bones fans.

Tweaks that allow weight so you have to manage your weight just right or else be penalized with slowness.

 

--

Added custom blocks for vanilla drop replacement. Good for the enemies, bad for you.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sticks N' Stones is currently in BETA. I wanted the community to have a "new and improved" Blood N Bones experience. There are a few mods that were not able to make it to the pack due to either being abandoned or going another route (E.g Witchery, Ender Forest, ExtraTiC, Hardcore Ender Expansion, Nether Ores, Utility Mobs) but I managed to get a lot of features from newer mods to compensate.

 

Sticks N' Stones has taken a lot of time to develop and configure. I hope it is an experience unlike any other on 1.12! You will be reminded often of Blood N Bones esque gameplay. I have given a little personal touch here and there to add to the experience. I have incorporated Metallurgy tools heavily and at higher tiers even trump tinkers tools.

 

Sticks N' Stones in some ways will feel HARDER than Blood N Bones and in others EASIER. It is meant to push the limits. I would appreciate any feedback from the community. This modpack is for you guys!
