A 1.7.10 modpack heavily focused on exploration and magic, particularly Thaumcraft and Chromaticraft. Plenty of dimensions to explore, with new structures to find in each.

Description

Versions prior to 15.0.0 require Java 21 or higher to run, which in turn requires lwjgl3ify. The mod itself is included, and should prompt to download the libraries when first launched. If this does not work, follow the instructions found here: https://github.com/GTNewHorizons/lwjgl3ify?tab=readme-ov-file#usage

The CurseForge launcher may not play nice with the downloader, so the manual option may be required.

Also check the GitHub releases page, there are usually direct full-pack downloads as an alternative. These simply include everything needed to run the modpack.

The main focus is on ChromatiCraft, Thaumcraft (and addons) and exploring, with a Zelda-inspired set of upgrades to be collected along the way. I designed the quests and some of the recipes to encourage people to try out all of the magic mods, especially the somewhat overlooked aspects (like Blood Magic spells), but not in such a way that you have to progress in one mod to progress in another. The main six are all doable without needing the others. It's still absolutely encouraged to use them together, however.

I also wanted this pack to be somewhat easier for people who are less familiar with the magic mods, or modded Minecraft in general, hence the branching quests and new mod-specific documentation. I have a few people who are helping to test it in this regard.

And then there are the things changed to make it easier to do things in general. Lots of building blocks are easier to craft in larger quantities, more structures that generate and contain special loot like CrC fragments, quests to give a little boost here and there, even a way to get food while mining deep underground in a pinch.
I have kept the intended progression of these mods mostly intact, as I feel they should be experienced more or less how the author intended. I have made things slightly easier overall, however.

For exploring, there are a huge number of dimensions to visit, with unique content. Ranging from classics like Twilight Forest and Mystcraft, to the ominous layers of the Deeper Caves, to space with true zero-gravity.

There is so much to see and experience, that this description really doesn't do it justice.

New Content:

Several new building blocks, able to be cheaply crafted after accessing the nether, end, and aether (or by finding an Azoth crystal in loot). Coilstone, Churchglass, Malumwood, Wraithwood, Pyroscale, Regalia, Tenebrick, just to name a few. The six wood types also appear as trees in the world (no saplings, sadly).

Six new ores, used either for decoration or for certain magical recipes: Lazulite, Garnic, Phasmite, Verdite, Archite, and Eidolith. Each realmstone ore corresponds to a different dimension, and a different school of magic.

New food items with various effects, found throughout the world, from deep underground, to witchwood forests.

New fluids: Dawnsap, Umbral Oil, Quicksand, Error, Catalyst, and Malice. Each has somewhat unique qualities.

MANY new music discs (some would say, perhaps too many). One set brings the new Twilight Forest music back to 1.7.10. Another is a collection of outside music, obtained via Elven Trade. Others are dropped from various mobs and bosses. Some are crafted using a material obtained from breaking down certain other discs. Specific details are listed on my GitHub wiki for the pack.

Two new books. Chromatic Archives I and II document some of the more obscure aspects of Chromaticraft. Both are works in progress. They are obtained by crafting a book with some basic crystalline materials, or obtained as quest rewards.

I have also completely overhauled the Thaumonomicon, both rearranging existing content and adding a substantial amount of new pages. It really is the best way to add new documentation.

New Tinkers Construct material: Heraspec. Created by alloying Blood, Etherium, and Silver.

New Tinkers Construct material: Dreamy. Recipe is a secret to be discovered.

A number of new structures can be found in the Overworld at various heights and depths, on the roof of the Nether (accessible via ChromatiCraft), and perhaps some other locations…

Some changes include:

Matter Overdrive has been severely overhauled to have a more magical aesthetic. Textures, sounds, UIs, the works.

Several Tinker's Construct materials have new effects that trigger when used in melee combat, ranging from potion effects on the player or target, to unique effects like a brief parrying window.

Hardcore Ender Expansion Runes can now be crafted, with enough progress into one of the magic disciplines (Ars Magica, Thaumcraft, Botania, Witchery, Chromaticraft, and Blood Magic). Serves as an alternative to finding them in the dungeons, but is not necessarily easier. The recipes are meant to require a fair amount of expertise with the magic mod in question. These things are powerful, after all.

Many new potions can be brewed, combining various effects (both positive and negative). These use the Blood Magic brewing system because of the complexity allowed in recipes, and the Thaumcraft crucible to make the components.

New ores, Hexorium variants, and Chromaticraft ores have been added to the Orechid (overworld variant only). Chromaticraft ores still require progression to harvest, and will appear to be normal stone until then.

Chromaticraft blank knowledge fragments can now be obtained from some of the new rare structures, as well as a limited number available from boss quests.

Twilight Forest logs now have equivalent planks for all variants, instead of vanilla planks (or none). Most wood types also have a full-bark version of the logs.

Blood Magic, Twilight Forest, the Erebus, and Thaumcraft have had many missing item and block aspect values added.

Geostrata blocks, along with a few other block types from other mods, have been properly assigned to Chisel groups. Convert between Geostrata stone types via chiseling cobblestone.

Biome height ranges have been tweaked. Extreme Hills now live up to their name, for example, and the Tainted Lands have become a sort of swamp, as well as having two new themes to choose from (The Scarlet Mire and The Pallor) available as resource packs.

Updates on here will include changelogs. Full update notes so far are also kept on my Discord server: https://discord.gg/V2rSh5krBC. Early access to updates for the pack is also via Discord, since CurseForge takes an eternity to process updates. My GitHub has a wiki for the modpack that is slowly growing, and also contains more detailed changelogs for the several versions that didn't end up on CurseForge.

Feedback is welcome and encouraged. Please keep any issues or bug reports to this pack, unless it is verified to actually be the mod itself (a lot of the mods are no longer getting updates anyway, for this version). I will pass on reports to mod authors if necessary. This will also help avoid duplicate reports.

Special note: ChromatiCraft can be a bit of a difficult mod to make progress in, sometimes. If you need assistance, feel free to ask on the Discord server. There are a few people on there that have a good deal of experience with the mod and the ways it does things.

Huge thanks to LordPINE for helping me figure out how to get the pack uploaded to CurseForge, and for creating the Witches Dreams mod, to Brandyn for so much help along the way, and for his Rift Flux mod (a massive singularity of wonderful content on its own), and to Mayonnaizze for their fork of Abyssalcraft, and to everyone else who has helped troubleshoot this beast.
