Description
Sovereign 101 is a Minecraft modpack with 101 mods based around exploration, dimensions, magic, difficulty, and more built for high performance but stunning visuals. Difficulty increases significantly over time.
RECOMMENDED SETUP
Memory: 6GB is more than enough for a smooth vanilla experience, but 8GB recommended if running OptiFine + shaders. You might even be able to get away with 4 if you have a nice PC
OptiFine: Optional but recommended for shader support
Shaders: Complementary Unbound on "Very Low" — stunning on any decent GPU,
runs smoothly on modern hardware without noticeable performance cost
Sovereign 101 is lightweight — if your PC was built in the last few years, you will
have no issues. Players with a decent graphics card can run OptiFine +
Complementary Unbound shaders with headroom to spare. Install OptiFine
manually after launching once without it.
KEY FEATURES
-Hard but fair difficulty — Lycanites Mobs is delayed 10 in-game days so new
players can establish themselves before the real pressure begins
- Six dimensions to conquer — The Overworld, The Midnight, Nether, The End, Twilight Forest,
Erebus, each with unique gear and progression
- Three magic paths — Botania, Thaumcraft 6, and Astral Sorcery. Pick one,
master it, finish the pack. The game won't hold your hand.
- Custom brass tier gear — handcrafted Sovereign 101 Ex armor, weapons, tools, and
staffs built specifically for this pack
- Barebones questbook — guides you forward without spoiling discovery
- Definitive ending — unlike most modpacks, there is a true final challenge. You will know when you've won.
- Controller support on 1.1+ via Controllable!
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Sovereign 101 was built because existing hard packs sacrifice curation for content volume.
More mods is not better content — sometimes just more noise and so many features piled up that compete for the same space in worldgen, inventory, and time most importantly. Every mod in Sovereign 101 earns its place. The result is a pack that feels cohesive, performs well, and respects your past-basic Minecraft skills without removing the difficulty that makes progression meaningful. 101 mods sounds like a lot on paper, but compared to other packs like All the Mods, Better Minecraft, RLCraft, Dawncraft, Prominence 2, and many more you can easily find double or more than my pack's 101 mods.
This is a solo-developed pack. Every quest, every balance decision, every custom
item was made by one modder who wanted a hard 1.12.2 exploration pack that didn't exist
yet.
KNOWN CONSIDERATIONS
-This pack is hard. Early deaths are expected and intentional.
- The questbook is barebones by design. Look things up if you're stuck.
- OptiFine is not bundled — the author does not permit redistribution in
modpacks. Install it manually if you want shader support
- Also, this pack does not have official server support, but there are included tools for it if needed. Your job to get it working.
I've probably said enough for now, you'll just have to figure out the rest! Give it a try for 45 minutes and enjoy.
- Quick Note: If you delete any mods and reinstall them or their configs, the config files won't carry and some core edits I made, and I made a lot of them, won't carry. Same situation if you try to update a mod.
Mod credits (some for different versions):
Better Nether (1.12.2 forge version)
Dynamic View and Simulation Distances [Congrats, someaddon, for 1.4 BILLION downloads!]
Neat [Congrats for the 1.3 BILLION downloads, Vazkii, too!]
Sovereign 101 Extras: my mod. Figured I would give myself credit anyway.
