Description
The sun is beginning to set. It's your first day in a brand new world, and while you've managed to gather a few stone tools you're becoming uncomfortably aware that you've forgotten to gather building materials. Darkness falls as you trudge reluctantly towards a nearby forest, the cheery colors of the swaying autumn leaves leeching away in the fading twilight. You pull out an axe and have begun cutting into a tree when you hear footsteps behind you. Expecting a mundane creature like a zombie, easily dispatched by a couple swift blows of your stone axe, you're surprised to find that nothing is there. Paranoia begins to set in as you scan your surroundings. You imagine the trees are reaching towards you, gnarled branches bared in claws and--
Hold on.
Did that tree just blink?
You move move tentatively closer, intent on its trunk. So intently, in fact, that you almost don't see the tall, lanky figure move swiftly past the corner of your vision. You straighten up, thoughts of the tree forgotten. An enderman? No. That wasn't teleportation. That was movement. You plant your feet and stand your ground, stone axe held aloft, searching for signs of your stalker. Nothing. The forest is silent as death.
A chill runs down your spine, a cold prickly feeling that turns your blood to ice. Ignoring your instincts screaming to run far, far away, you slowly turn on the spot. And there it stands. If you were asked to describe it later, all you would be able to recall would be two lifeless, lamplike eyes above a horrible, ghastly grin, stretching from ear to ear like a monstrous Cheshire cat. You stand, rooted to the spot as those awful eyes bore into your soul for what seems like an eternity. And then it moves. You cry out, slashing wildly at its grasping limbs and feeling the blade of your axe connect before scrambling in the opposite direction as fast as your legs can carry you, the creature's unearthly wail echoing in your ears. Reaching the edge of the forest, you stumble to a halt, panting. Slowly, as your eyes adjust from the glare of the torch you dropped back in the forest enough to take in the nightmarish scene before you, you begin to wish you'd stayed back in the forest with the creature and its grin. The Sinister Spectacle is a Halloween-themed Vanilla+++ modpack designed to provide the player with the optimal Minecraft Halloween experience. The autumnal leaves in shades of red, orange, yellow, and purple combined with wild multicolored pumpkins and gourds and carpetings of leaves scattered across the ground (among other things) help to create a cozy atmosphere during the daytime. This crisp, happy autumn vibe is starkly contrasted by the sharp chill of nighttime, where players will be forced to gear up with magical weaponry else they be overwhelmed by spirits and demons straight out of All Hallows' Eve.
