Indeed, a world of dungeons, dimensions, and dragons. Foes to fell and treasures to take. But that also means a lot of danger. Before you embark, know what you shall encounter on ahead:

This world draws power from the nine Rings that surround it. Each ring comprises of several stars. And each star bestows its blessings, as well as its curses onto this world. Although the stars vary in power, each one of them is crucial to the balance of this world.
The Ring of Land: Comprising the stars Terraforged, Biomes o' Plenty, and Serene Seasons, this ring fully controls land generation and its atmosphere. Distant stretches of grasslands, meandering rivers, and high rise mountains. Traverse the vast desert with scorching sands, or travel to the lands of eternal snow. Or maybe places too magical to the average eye, or places so spooky it sends a chill own your spine! Be sure to pack your winter clothes!!
The Ring of Beasts: With the stars Ice and Fire, Lycanites mobs, and Better Animals Plus, it gives rise to several new creatures never seen by man! Some are peaceful, some are protectors of order, and some are like a beautiful melody that heals the tired adventurer's soul. But some of them are out to make your travels more nerve racking than ever! Dangerous predators seeking to feed on both your flesh and you willpower. Creatures of shadowy darkness that emerge from the dark and pull you right into it! Dragons! They soar the skies and protect their treasure, with a blazing intensity that makes you run for your life as soon as you spot one. I wonder if they can be befriended...
The Ring of Hardship: The stars Survive and First Aid together form this ring. Survival is no longer as simple as a stack of bread. You must eat, drink, as well as get a good nights sleep to function properly. Keep an eye on your vitals! Taking too much damage to your head or body will kill you! Natural healing is no longer as powerful, so keep some ointments on hand! And no matter what, do not lose yourself in work, as pushing your limits will only result in backlash. To conquer, one must survive!!
The Ring of Growth: The stars Scaling Health, Rereskillable, Better Leveling, and Apotheosis make up this ring, and provide an oppurtunity of exponential growth. By defeating foes and collecting the shards they drop, you can increase your health and power! You can also learn new skills that will aid you in various aspects! However, it also makes it such that you cant use the best equipment right from the get go, as the best tool only suits the most experienced craftsman. And with enough experience, you can infuse your items with magic, making them more powerful than ever! But never grow vain! There are tales of monsters that can also wield such tools...
The Ring of Challenge: Consisting of the stars When Dungeons Arise, Awesome Dungeons, and Valhelsia, this ring manifests as structures that provide a horde of opponents to challenge oneself against. Put your life at risk, and fight, so that you may gain more experience and grow stronger. And that is not all, as at the end of the thorny path you find rewards that will make your hardships worth it. But outside of that, some of these structures also adorn the landscape beautifully, so take a break from the bloodshed, and stop to admire the view once in a while.
The Ring of Steel: Clothes define a person, they say. Then, equipment defines a warrior! Drawing power from the stars Spartan Weaponry, Spartan Shields, and Epic Fight, this ring adds a plethora of new weaponry, each with their own movesets and benefits. Rapiers with high critical, and greatswords with broad sweeps. Or a shield to protect you from attackers! As you explore them each, one of them is sure to match you as your most trusted companion!
The Ring of Worlds: Forming this ring are the stars Better Nether, Better End, and Twilight Forest. It opens up whole new world of possibilities, featuring unique challenges and rewards. The Underworld, filled with lava, now holds life that has adapted and harnessed the heat as their own. The Otherworld - End - is more of a mystery, as traversal over the void is difficult. But with the power of flight, one might be able to travel far, and discover all that it has to offer. However, the most mysterious is the third, a world only stated in legends, and supposedly lost to history. A land of twilight, where reside mystical creatures and powerful beasts, a fitting challenge for great warriors. There are rumours that one can open up a pathway by sacrificing a gem in a specially constructed altar...
The Ring of Little things: Consisting several small stars that make little changes to the world. Want to bring more supplies on your travels? Traveler's Backpack! A map to record the lands you visited ? Antique Atlas! And XP Tome will store your experience so you may use it later! With numerous other similar stars like Quark, Comforts, Waystones, the small things come together to cause quite a revolutionary change. As has been said, it is the little things that matter.
The Ring of Hope: This Ring comprises of growing stars, that have not taken shape yet, and cannot contribute anything to the world. However, in the future, they may grow and take their positions, shining bright upon this world and its inhabitants.

The first of the challengers, Steve, recorded his adventures in this notebook, keeping track of his achievements and failures as he worked towards his goal. Little did he know it would become the guiding beacon for those who came after...
Day 1, 18000 ticks
I died. I really died. And then I revived. This is all true. And this world is indeed very different. That existence, whatever it was, was not lying. This world is rough. Too rough. I couldn't even cut down a tree at first! It was an arduous process. I collected flint, and smashed it against stone to create flint shards. With the shard and a stick, I created a knife. With the knife, I cut grass, and suddenly a beast appeared out of nowhere! It might be wrong to call it a beast...it was a new type of creature...I do not know. It seemed to be protecting the nature. Maybe it was angry at me for cutting the grass. Either way, it made me run for my life, and I am grateful it did not chase after me. I had hurt my legs during the escape, so moving was a difficult task. But nonetheless, I gathered enough fiber from grass, and made strings with that fiber. With that string, I firmly attached a flint shard onto a stick, and made a hatchet! Thus I fell my first tree. Then I put down the logs and used my axe to obtain planks, and finally made a crafting table. With it, many new paths opened, soon I found out that I could create wool from the strings, and a sleeping bag from the wool! I made a little cave on a mountainside, and set down my temporary shelter. But night had fallen, and I was in need of light. I found some coal, and crafted a torch. And finally, I can rest. That was one intense day, and the sleeping bag looks inviting to my tired self. I shall set down the torch, and retire for the night.
Day 2, 20000 ticks
It is way past midnight. There was so much to do I lost track of time. Waking up, I saw my torch extinguished. Thank heavens I wasn't attacked in my sleep. I got out of bed and peeked out to see if there are any monsters. It seemed relatively safe so I began work for the day. I discovered a lot of new things. I cannot just start harvesting for food. I need some experience first. So I went out to hunt, and saw some huge beasts. I was scared at first, but they seemed peaceful. So I gathered some courage and successfully hunted some! And what's more, I found that cooking and eating their flesh bolsters my physical abilities! With newfound strength, I ventured again, and gathered some resources. I discovered that I can make paper from birch! And with that paper and some wood, I crafted myself a matchbox, and re-lit my torch as the sun set. After resting for a bit and organizing my supplies I dug down into the earth, hoping to create a mine of sorts. And guess what ? I found iron! I was half afraid that breaking the ore would also spawn some nasty creature, thankfully it did not. I was excited. I continued mining without keeping track of time. I only returned after feeling very tired. The feeling persists. I am completely exhausted and can barely stay awake. I shall sleep now.
Day 3, 17000 ticks
I had worked too much yesterday, exhaustion overcoming me completely. I must be careful not to repeat it, as if I were attacked in such a situation, I would not be able to fight back. All that aside, it was a new day again, and there was much to do. I ventured out and hunted some more animals, and gathered more resources. Oh right! I forgot to mention this, but drinking dirty water makes me thirsty. It's much better if I boil the water bottles in a furnace. So with some food and purified water with me, I dared to venture into the forest. But it was not a pleasant experience. A skeleton attacked! It hit my body, breaking my left arm! I rushed and swung my weapon in panic, and managed to bring down the skeleton. It dropped a bandage. I applied it and healed myself, but did not dare to venture further without proper equipment. But while returning, I lost my way! It took me quite a while to find my way back, and the sun had already set. I was attacked by another lion-like creature, which I somehow managed to kill and got some leather. That encounter left me half dead This can't continue. I set my sights on procuring good equipment first thing. I will go to bed for tonight, and start to seriously get equipped tomorrow.
Day 6, 19000 ticks
I lot happened. I have been too busy to maintain this diary. This world is crazy! It does not let you do anything in peace! Creatures appear when I cut trees, and when I mine ores! The other day an apparition appeared while I was trying to sleep! I am amazed I am still alive. I fully understand now, the words of the secret existence. I must never stop improving if I wish to survive. I have made full iron armor, and a saber and shield. The armor provides good protection, but is kind of heavy. And the weapon, it is, if I must say, Graceful! I also have a bow for taking care of enemies from afar. I crafted a compass, and combined it with a writable book to craft a map book of sorts. Now I won't be lost anymore. I made a backpack to hold some supplies, including food and water. I have a tool belt that can hold all my tools without taking up too much space. I also got a trusted steed that comes to me at a single whistle! It is time for me to leave this place. I heard the sound of large wings flapping in the south. I am afraid it is a dragon, so I will head north. I don't think I will have enough time to maintain this journal, so I will leave it here. Now to just get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow, my true adventure begins!

This modpack is still a work in progress with most planned features not yet implemented and most discovered/undiscovered issues not resolved. I will try my best to resolve them at the earliest and keep this pack updated. Feel free to report any bugs you encounter through the issue tracker!

The modpack is still a work in progress, and most planned custom recipes and features have not been implemented yet. Lots of unnecessary items will get removed, and new ones might be added. Lots of changes are planned so as to properly integrate all the mods and their items to work in conjunction with one another. It is a long way to go before the pack becomes fully fleshed out and properly balanced.
I also plan to change several textures and include resource packs that go well with the mods. Plans to edit the main menu to give it fresh look are also included. If you do play the modpack now, please provide feedback on what you would like to see in future. Suggestions for additional features are also welcome!

As some of you already have guessed, yes, this modpack is heavily inspired by an existing modpack for 1.12.2 -
RLCraft by Shivaxi !
Because it started out with a very popular goal of being RLCraft for a newer version. However down the line, the goal somewhat changed. Flashy lore aside, it's major features are still similar to RLCraft, with one major difference - it is not as hardcore. Second Chance skips over the masochistic difficulty of RLCraft and aims to be easier in various aspects. One thing it completely changes is the mid-game grind that RLCraft 2.9 brings. Hardcore RLCrafters may dislike this, but yes, this is what several players seek- RLCraft, but easier.
Here are some examples as to how different life will be:
- No random spawning (may implement this if there are requests)
- Early flying mounts
- 1.16 automated farms
- 1.14+ villager trading. They also follow emeralds!
- Overhauled enchanting system
- Dragonsteel!
- No more storage problems
- Items will be safe on death
As you can tell, this modpack mitigates the annoying elements of not only RLCraft, but also vanilla (yes villagers I'm looking at you) and focuses on the more enjoyable things. If you are a casual who plays occasionally to relieve some stress from work, this is the pack for you. A pack primarily focusing on exploration, it offers mersmerizing sights meant to soothe your weary soul, and minimize the chance of you getting frustrated at losing hours of hard work to a glitched hitbox.
But make no mistake. Indeed, the hassles are gone, but the mobs remain. The dangerous structures remain. The dark night still remains. Make no mistake, challenger. Should you ever underestimate this world...YOU WILL DIE. OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN...
