Description
Overview
The modpack makes use of datapacks and mods to completely flip the game upside down - now instead of being a player going after the ender dragon, the game works the opposite way - you're the ender dragon and your objective is to avoid hunters and eventually resurrect your family. It's basically supposed to give you an unusual minecraft experience from a different perspective while still keeping it somewhat vanilla.
The 2 main components of this modpack are:
- kyleong's AI hunter datapack (heavily modified, it won't work outside of the modpack), check out their datapack in the full version.
- BlackAuresArt's dragon survival mod (modified via config, resourcepacks and datapacks), you can check that mod there.
Additionally it contains mods like FTB quests with e4mc, so you can play in multiplayer mode with your friends, also allowing them to switch teams if you enable it in the quest book in the admin control panel.
Important: play with at least 8 simulation distance or AI hunters might not work properly
Main features
- You play as a dragon, which means you gain an ability to fly or use breath, which will get stronger as you progress, but also your food selection becomes limited since you're not an omnivore. You start off pretty much as a child and all you know is that your mother is now gone, your objective is to bring her back to life.
- A skill levelling system, you can either stick to experience levels to keep strong active abilities, or spend your xp on permanent upgrades like reduced fall damage or better stats for melee combat.
- AI hunters that have several abilities that will counter yours and will do anything just to take you down (even deal emotional damage). you should avoid them at all costs since they're extremely powerful and will only get stronger over time. You can however hear when they're close so you can avoid them.
- Special interactions with mobs, mostly endermen which will give you gifts and villagers which either will either come with special offers or send their armies at you, depending on your reputation. Killing villagers grants lots of experience but will hurt you in a long run and it goes the other way around if you decide to be their ally.
- Changed eye of ender/end crystal crafting recipes, so speedrunning the game isn't as easy despite your ability to fly - now you need a larger variety of items to get there.
- There are also non-player dragons that can be your friends, or your army if you decide to. They can be spawned in several ways.
- End crystals are your source of life - they'll provide you with health, food and stamina so you can stop worrying about these in any area of your choice, at least as long as you can afford to craft one.
- Dragon skin editor and emotes - you don't have to necessarily be an ender dragon, you can express yourself if you really want to.
- Existential dread from knowing in the back of your head that the hunters are coming for you, partially making it a horror game.
- Optional PVP mode if enabled via admin settings in the quest book
Extra things
Considering that it's pretty much vanilla with a twist, you can add your own mods for your own liking, but i'm not responsible if that breaks something, I can however give some hints if you decide to contact me. You can also inform me on any bugs you encounter and I'll try to figure out a way to fix them within my range of possibilities.
I'm also fine if you do whatever you want with this modpack, as long as it doesn't go against the license of mods/datapacks included in it and you credit this version as the original.
Whenever you update the modpack to the newest version, make sure to reset configs by deleting the config files in your world/serverconfig/ directory.
It can run with 2GB of RAM on low settings, although 3-4GB is recommended and +0.5-1GB for every player in your world if you're going to host the game to play with your friends.
