Why I removed it? I realized I wanted this modpack to be simple and bring an advanced, but still majorly simplistic experience for all players. And since JEI brings an overlay which isn't very simplistic and doesn't really follow the recent Minecraft recipe book, I decided to remove it. I'll see how this goes and if I should add it later or not. If you really do want JEI though, you can install it manually as it's client side.
