Description
Ages have passed since the greatest climate disaster humanity had ever seen. Life went nearly extinct, villages and cities were reduced to rubble.
It took a long time, but the Earth recovered. Climate zones settled close to what they once were. Now, with animals gone, pokemon roam the landscape. Survivors search the decayed foundations for loot and treasure. Humanity took up the task of rebuilding, and rediscovering their lost knowledge. It's a new Earth, led by a select few who seem to remember what the old world was like...
CATCH POKEMON ON A 1:1 SCALE EARTH, IN REAL TIME.
Recreate your real-life home. Hunt for pokemon in your neighborhood. Stock up on pokeballs at your local store. Turn your local school into a pokemon gym. Start on a pokemon journey that takes you to see all natural wonders of the world.
World time is automatically matched to real-time, so expect to see different pokemon at different times of the day. Catching nightly Pokemon will require you staying up late. More Pokemon trainers are around during lunch hour, or dinner time. Or take a break from improving pokemon genetics and delve into crop genetics, cloning, or engineering.
A PIXELMON PACK LIKE NO OTHER
This modpack was created in an attempt to fix the perceived lack of challenge in Pixelmon Singleplayer (since it removes all hostile mobs, and is generally pretty generous with loot).
It does this by through a multi-tiered approach: increasing survival elements, scarcity, and giving you a world you care about.
Increased realistic survival elements
- Tough as Nails: Thirst and temperature system. Dehydration will kill you. Heat and cold will kill you.
- Heat and Climate: Integrated, biome and weather response climate system, including humidity and wind factors.
- Serene seasons: Realistic seasons that impose restrictions. Crops only grow in specific seasons, and specific biomes. Replant for spring / summer / autumn. Winter is hard.
- Pam's Harvestcraft: Offering a wide selection of crops, foods and drinks.
- Nutrition: Maintain a balanced diet of proteins, carbs, fat, sugars. No one can live on veggies alone, you know. Even if they are varied.
- No vanilla mobs, no Pokemon killings: Did we mention there's no animal killings here? Find smart ways to get leather, string, wool or just the protein to live on (hint: Vegetarians might have some ideas)
- Pollution of the realms: Fuel combustion will fill your house with dust, carbon and sulphur gasses. If unchecked, they will affect pokemon, plants and players.
- Corpse: When you do kick the bucket, a clone will be revived and your dead body will be waiting on the ground, with your gear.
Reduced resource availability
- (Optional) Gregtech-like ore veins and progression. Most of the underground is stone. Deal with it. Easier to build subways and basements. Rewarding to find a useful ore vein.
- (Optional) Disabled ultraspace and other dimensions. Live with what the Earth gives you. Optionally, this pack includes a mod to turn other dimensions into adventure mode (for loot, catching Pokemon).
- No pokechests. No village chests. No loot. Except from vanilla dungeons (which have been made a lot more abundant), Pokestops and Pokemon bosses.
- Massive real-life biomes, forcing players to strategize and build teams with only a limited set of Pokemon. (The way this pack is meant to be played, you teleport to your real-life home and stay in the same general area as real life. However you are allowed to tp elsewhere provided you traveled there in real life first. Pokemon as souvenirs).
Many tailored mods working together, with custom configs
Terra++: World generation that generates chunks of accurate real-life terrain as you go (NOT a pregenerated map!). Includes accurate biomes, lakes, rivers, highways, roads and customizable Minecraft generation of ore, dungeons, trees, etc.
Terramap: Features a permanent mini-map showing you where you'd be standing in real-life.
CubicChunks: Removes the normal Minecraft build limits, allowing accurate representations of 1:1 mountains, ravines or tall skyscrapers.
Worldflags: Adds national flags to decorate (or claim) lands with.
Many others: Journeymap, Wawla, Carry-on, Biomes o'plenty, Natura, Tinker's Construct, Bibliocraft and more!
Q&A
How do I generate a planet Earth map?
See the 'Images' section. Choose Singleplayer > Create New World > More World Options > World Type: Planet Earth > Customize > Click 'Build the Earth', then click 'Customize' > Set 'CubicWorldGen Preset' (Ore gen) and 'Vanilla chunk populators' (ANIMALS: OFF).
The customized 'Build the Earth' world preset is recommended over 'Default', because that allows compatibility with pre-build cities from the BuildTheEarth Project (Patreon).
Since the world gen setup can be pretty complicated, I'll try to include an already generated world in the download. In that case, just select Singleplayer > 'Earth'.
How do I teleport to a desired location?
Expand the terramap mini-map, go to your desired location, right-click and select 'Teleport here'. Alternatively, you can use the /tpll command, provided you're allowed to run commands.
Why does the world look so flat?
Unless you're living right next to a hill, mountain or ravine in real life, your home area will likely look pretty flat and boring. That's just where real life humans like to build. The terrain gen is based on real-life data, with y=0 equal to sea level. Here's a list of cool touristy places on Earth, with their coordinates, to check out: https://github.com/BuildTheEarth/terraplusplus/wiki/Cool-locations
Why can't I find any ore?
By default the world should have generated with (only) vanilla ores, with vanilla distribution. If you use the ore gen I use, then your Earth will have generated with Gregtech ore veins, but the vein locations are much more rare and random. Some ores are still more common than others (iron, copper, etc), but most veins can spawn at any height. Finding a single vein will support your needs for a while though, so don't forget to mark it with a waypoint.
Why can't I find any buildings / Pokemon centers / Pokemarts / Pokegyms ?
Sadly, pixelmon structures don't generate using this world gen. The 'rule' I play with is that if Terramap shows a veterinarian / doctor's office / hospital somewhere in real life then you're allowed to spawn a Pokecenter there with the /struc command. Similarly a gas stop / convenience store lets you spawn a PokeMart. A sports stadium / athletic track / pool lets you spawn a gym.
Other buildings you either have to build yourself, or you can use a prebuild structures mod (like 'Prefab') to generate a house for you.
Alternatively, you can become a tier 3 Patreon supporter of the Build the Earth project, which lets you download whole 1.12 vanilla real-life recreated cities that other people have build, and save them to your world. Some of the cities available include: New York, Seattle, Las Vegas, Miami, Honolulu, Singapore, Moscow, Monaco, Gothenburg, Kyoto (More cities being added regularly).
Why can't I find ocean biome pokemon?
Pixelmon seems to have a (pointless?) hard-coded spawn range for ocean biome pokemon that prevents them from spawning below Y=0 (i.e. below sea level). Ocean biomes tend to extend a bit inlands at times though, in which case you can often find 'seafloor' Pokemon on the shores instead. Still, please join me in requesting a change to these range limits on the Pixelmon forums.
