Description
Hello internet wanderer!
Welcome to the Vanilla+ pack MC Outlands!
This 1.21.1 survival/exploration/building based modpack focuses on expanding the vanilla experience through few worldgen mods, few tool and enchantment mods, many tweaks, changes or new recipes and makes few vanilla features more usable, for example crafting menu, maps, keybind menu and more. The whole pack works through both mods and datapacks.
This pack also focuses on improving the game without actually adding any new blocks, so the worlds you've created and built could be also launched in vanilla game. Might not work properly in the future, as I might add a backport mod which brings features from 1.21.5 and 1.21.4 versions. But who knows, I will test everything before releasing it here.
You can configure this pack as you want through the mod menu ingame, however the modpack is already supplied with balancing changes. If something feels off, go ahead and comment. Plus, this pack will be updated not just by it's creator's wish, but also by community feedback. If you find any bugs, balancing mistakes, or you just have an idea that might help improve this pack, feel free to express yourself in the comments section, but be aware, the creator is studying at college, so it might take him longer to respond :)
This pack was made possible through absolutely amazing hard work of many creators of the separate mods, you can check all of them in the mod menu ingame - each mod should have it's author written there. In the future, there will be a nice credits list here aswell.
Enough talking, here is a full list of features this pack contains, sorted into sections to make it clear. Contains both mod and datapack features.:
Worldgen
Continents mod - a terrain generation mod which changes the layout of land, so that the world is divided into large continents with islands between them, all connected by a big ocean. If you want to turn this off, you need to delete the mod itself, as it sadly doesn't have a config menu.
Dungeons and Taverns - whole series of mods full of new Overworld, Nether and The End buildings is added, with both the structures and their loot balanced to match the vanilla feel.
Explorify - another great mod which contains vanilla-ish structures.
Formations Nether and Formations Overworld - these mods add smaller, more subtle structures into the world.
Cliff face - this makes sides of hills and mountains more stoney, because who would want to look at mountains of dirt all day.
Equipment
Atlas - A book which contains vanilla maps that are put together like a normal large map, also contains map markers and a cool HUD minimap. Has more vanilla feel to it than other map mods.
Backpacked - simple backpack that can be equipped and customised.
Ceramic Bucket - bucket made from clay, great for early game, but cracks if used for lava.
Angelo's hammers - simple tools to mine 3x3 holes, however not much durable and definitely not cheap.
Copper Equipment - basic tools and armor made from copper, between stone and iron tools. Also not durable, but cheap. Better than nothing, eh.
Musket mod - simple mod that adds a musket and ammo for it. Musket is hard hitting, but slow to reload and more expensive to maintain than bows and crossbows. Be aware, skeletons use them too!
Instant shield block - removes the annoying shield delay.
Axes are weapons - for axe fans, mod that changes axes so that they don't break as fast when used as a weapon. Also allows few more enchantments to be put on axes.
Netherite Horse Armor - found in bastions. Looks cool.
Forget-me-wand - very expensive wand that resets trial vaults, so you can experience vaults again properly.
Enchantments
Beautiful enchanted books - makes books more recognisable.
Enchantment dectriptions - as the title says.
Bow infinity fix - now you don't need an arrow in your inventory when shooting a bow with infinity enchantment.
Crossbow enchants - more enchantments can be put on a crossbow, an attempt to make it more balanced.
Enchantment disabler - a change to enchanting table prices has been made through this mod, don't worry, no enchantments were completely removed. This is just to make enchants harder to get.
Grind enchantments - using a grindstone, pull enchantments from an item, for a hefty price.
No XP Anvils - makes repairing an item using it's appropriate material viable, as it doesn't cost levels. An attempt to nerf the overpowered "mending" enchantment, making it less viable. Also an attempt to make anvils interesting again for experienced players.
Anvil repairing - repair anvils with iron, just like you would repair an iron golem.
Better impaling - impaling works on every enemy touching or submerged in water. Similar to bedrock edition.
Potions, food
Cooked Carrots - same as normal carrots, you can just eat them faster. An attempt to make carrots more interesting (they still taste gross).
Potion cauldron - tip your arrows in a cauldron full of a potion, just like you do in bedrock edition of the game.
Mobs, Animals, entities
Small ships - this mod adds small sail boats to make trips across the seven seas easier.
Zombie proof doors - makes doors impervious to zombie attacks in hard and hardcore gamemode.
Zombie villagers from spawner - there is a small chance that spawner will spawn a zombie villager.
Better creeeper - creepers no longer destroy blocks, but they do more damage to players and mobs around!
no animal tempt delay - when luring an animal with, let's say, a wheat, they will no longer wander off after you walk a little faster for a while.
Campfires disperse mobs - lit campfire prevents hostile mobs from coming to your place, burning those that dare to walk closer. Range is 64 meters.
Loot, Artifacts
Artifacts - adds fun little artifacts you can find in the world, each not only being a cosmetic, but also having a specific function. Also obtainable from archaeology. Don't forget to check the keybinds for some of these items.
Loot integrations - set of mods that improve the loot pool of most of the buildings you find, to make them more interesting and vibrant.
starter kit - when you create a new world, you are thrown into gameplay with random small set of items, sort of like a RPG game class (footman, archer, lumberjack, mage classes are available)
Redstone, rails
High speed rail - makes minecarts faster when there is gravel under the railway and slower when there is a slime block under it. Warning, don't forget to make brakes before turns, otherwise you might experience centrifugal force!
game mechanics
Attack through grass - as the title says.
bottle your XP - sneak click with a bottle to store XP, note that it takes 20 XP points from you (XP bottles only give 9-11 XP after breaking them).
Accessories - equipment slots added into inventory.
Grass seeds - use seeds on a dirt to make grass.
Mouse tweaks - easier manipulation with items inside inventories.
Random bone meal flowers - bone mealing grass gives all flowers randomly instead of the normal ones.
Universal bone meal - lets you bone meal more things.
Better Recipe book - instead of lazy JEI, recipe book is now revamped to be actually useful.
Better Respawn - instead of spawning on the world spawn, respawn a couple hundred meters from your last death location. If a valid respawn point is nearby, you'll wake up there. Still, please don't die.
Beacon changes - put a glass over a beacon to make the beacon light invisible. For those who enjoy beacon powers but don't want ugly beacon streams shooting from their base into the sky.
Lightweight inventory sorting - press "A" in the inventory to sort stuff. Sorts alphabetically. Yes, it is that simple.
villager leash - stop pushing those poor guys into boats, just give them a rope and lead them home.
Voice chat - configurable ingame voice chat, for those of you who have friends. Includes an ingame configure menu.
Edibles - try a few ingredients like sugar or glowstone and see what it does.
rightclickharvest - right click on a full grown crop with a hoe to both harvest and replant it.
More leads - leads can be used on more entities, plus you can tie them together.
Emoji typing - type cool emojis with ease.
Inventory totem - throw totem of undying into inventory and it will still save you. Lazy but efficient.
Movement/block placement
Bridging mod - allows a player to place blocks in more angles and ways, for example under a block, over a block, behind a block etc. Toggleable with a keybind.
Crawl - allows a player to enter crawl - slower than walking but can crawl through 1x1 holes. Toggleable with a keybind, plus can be changed between "hold to crawl" and "toggle to crawl".
Silk touch spawners - When mining a spawner with a silk touch pickaxe, there is a small chance that it will drop, with its preset mob type as well.
Elytra back slot - Player can put elytra into the "cape" slot in the accessories menu.
Utilities
Clumps - makes large amounts of XP scattered around fuse into bigger chunks of XP, reduces lag on large XP farms.
Crafttweaker - makes scripts such as recipes (in the instance "scripts" folder) work. Try to make your custom scripts if you want, the mod will tell you ingame if your scripts work or not.
e4mc - after starting a LAN world, this mod spits out a link into chat that one can copy and send to other players in different LAN network. They should be able to join through pasting the link in the "direct connect" option in the multiplayer tab.
Mod Menu - an ingame menu which displays all the mods included.
No telemetry - In previous versions, player data (snooper settings) were voluntarily sent to microsoft, while the player could disable them. Such settings were illegal in European Union and were removed. In 1.18, this data collection was silently re-added, without an option to turn it off. This mod completely disables it, preventing your data to be sent anywhere.
Paxi - a mod that integrates datapacks and resource packs into the game, so player doesn't need to go through the hassle of setting them individually. Datapacks and resource packs can still be disabled, however.
Controlling - simple mod that adds search bar into the keybinds menu.
Ambient sounds - mod that adds sound ambience into the world, sound changes depending on the player's location (different background sounds in forest, desert and cave, for example). Volume can be set through ambient option in sound settings.
Client crafting - makes crafting work on the client, not on the server, so less data is sent between client and the server.
Farsight - clientside mod that allows the player to basically have higher render distance than the server allows, by keeping chunks loaded on the client computer as well.
C418 music only - resource pack that removes the terrible new music added into the game after the 1.16 update. [Creator's note: I don't dislike the new music for being "not nostalgic" or something, it's just a music that doesn't fit the minecraft theme. You can disable this if you want in the resource pack menu.]
Crafting recipes
Blasting stone - allows cobblestone, stone, deepslate, sandstone and netherrack to be smelted in a blast furnace. An attempt to make blast furnace more useful while easing the experience for builders who build mainly from stone.
Craft saddles - this one's for my girlfriend who loves horses :)
Craft chainmail armor - chainmail, being a little bit worse than iron armor, can be crafted with chains and iron nuggets, making it a little bit cheaper than iron set. Also an attempt to make chains more interesting.
Craft tridents - Trident is really hard to come by otherwise, now you just need breeze rods and prismarine shards to craft it.
Craft slimeballs - slimeballs are very useful, but very hard to find sometimes. This way you can craft them, for a price though.
Craft mushrooms - multiply mushrooms with bone meal, craft mushroom blocks.
Craft gunpowder - use coal, charcoal and redstone.
Craft saplings and leaves - craft a sapling from wood log and sticks (sort of resembles the real life process of plant cutting propagation, multiply leaves with bone meal.
Craft dripleaves - propagate small and large dripleaves using bone meal.
Craft mycelium - as the title says.
Craft soul sand - to make soul sand available for players who don't want to go to the nether just yet (or they are scared), but need this material for building.
Craft ghast tear - as the title says. Comes at a price though.
Smelt tuff to basalt - also for the players who hate going into the nether, but want to build from basalt.
This next part of the list is dedicated to datapacks and resource packs from the vanillatweaks.net website. You can find explanations and credits to creators there. It is one of the best datapack websites, so be sure to check it out.

Other resource packs
Ewewukek's musket mod resource pack by Scarecrow01
These features might change in later updates, depending on my testing and comment section. Here is a list of things that might come in later updates, as they might fit into the pack theme:
Quests - advancement rework
Spears or other basic weapons (also in copper variant possibly)
minecart coupling (to make simple trains possible with the furnace minecart)
backport of 1.21.5 and maybe 1.21.4 features (this is problematic, worlds might not be compatible with the actual updates)
hardcore respawn mechanic (a friend can revive you in a limited time before you fully die)
pitcher plant usage (I know it's just a decoration, but for the effort you have to do to get it, there should be another use, maybe a crafting recipe)
This modpack was tested on two separate computers, one weaker and one faster, both of them running flawlessly. In the future, there might be a performance mod addition for weaker devices. Personal reccomendations are 8+ GB of RAM memory, intel i7+ or AMD ryzen 7+ processor and nvidia GTX 1650+ graphics card. If you have any performance issues, don't forget to comment, especially if you know what causes these troubles.
Enjoy your trip, internet wanderer!
