Description
This pack is out of date. I intend to return to the idea eventually, but I have enough other stuff on my plate that this could take a very long time.
Welcome to +4, a modpack that started out as a joke and then became an elaborate joke and now kind-of isn't a joke because I put too much work into it and if it's still just a joke then that's more sad than anything.
+4 is a modpack intended to, as closely as possible, simulate playing minecraft versions after 1.12, using 1.12. Currently, this covers 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, and 1.16, and it may expand to include more in the future, at which point this pack will be renamed to "+5" or "+6" or whatever.
"But wait," you say, "why would I want this? I can just play minecraft 1.16."
Well, the answer is that it's compatible with all 8000 1.12 mods, at least as far as I'm aware, instead of forcing you to stick with whatever the 4 and a half Fabric mods that have updated at any given time are.
It is not yet viable to update any of my mods to 1.13+, so instead I figured I'd downdate 1.13+ to my mods.
The specific intention of this pack is that you be allowed to steal the modlist and configs wholesale for your own projects if you'd like to put 1.13+ stuff in a 1.12 modpack, and to use as examples for when you're creating your own configs. Go nuts. The files should be located at C:\Users\{yournamehere}\Twitch\Minecraft\Instances\+4
Notice: Uploading resource packs inside modpacks isn't allowed, so if you want the 1.14+ textures then you can get them here, if you want to get them from an official source, or here, if you want them to be more accurate to the look of 1.14+.
Major features that are fully functional in no particular order:
- Trident (including all enchantments!)
- 1.13+ Swimming Mechanics
- Stonecutter
- Composter
- Conduit
- Loom
- Buffet World Type
- New Villager Designs
- Grindstone
- Blast Furnace
- Smoker
- Campfire
- Buried Treasure
- Item Name Overhaul
- 1.5 block tall player when crouching
- Pandas
- The whole Bees system
- Bells
- Overworld Fish
- Sunken Ships
- Netherite Ore, Tools, and Armor
- That weird crawling mechanic with trapdoors that might be a bug but Mojang claims it's a feature right now so we added it too
- A primitive crappy version of the Waterlogging mechanic
- Partially updated villager trades
- Scaffolding kinda
- A whole lot of more minor things like Suspicious Stew, various new slabs, stairs, and walls, and invisible item frames
Plus, featuring these things that 1.16 doesn't by default:
- Because this is built in 1.12, players who use fullscreen mode can actually tab away and do other things on their computer while the game loads!
- Roughly 1.5x as good performance than the actual 1.16!
- Significantly faster world generation than the actual 1.16!
- Unlike 1.13+, the +4 modpack actually doesn't remove the Customized world type for no reason!
- Like a bajillion bug fixes from a bunch of mods. Some of these 1.13+ fixed but most are ones that Mojang hasn't gotten to yet.
- No bizarre refusal to accept numbers in the gamemode command anymore!
- Some annoying things like Autojump should be off by default, if everything went right, so you don't have to deal with them!
- Some extra items in the creative inventory because I couldn't find a mod that allowed me to remove items from the creative inventory or change their tab. HMU if you know one because otherwise this will bug me forever.
- All other mods you can add work with forge instead of confusing and often incompatible competition between Forge, Fabric, Rift, and Datapacks.
- A lot of the mods in here have a whole bunch of things you could configure to be different like changing the background on the title screen or adding your own advancements and crafting recipes.
- In spite of all of this, load times for this pack and vanilla 1.16 seem the same for me but your mileage may differ!
Bonus round! Features that Mojang has promised us, but not actually added yet:
- Placing Chests in boats.
- A modding API /s
- probably not much more because I want any promised features to be exactly identical to their eventual implementation and the other promised features haven't been described nearly clearly enough for that to work.
Major missing features: (If you'd like to help out, coding these would be the most effective way to do that, or pointing me to a mod which adds them, which I'm not yet aware of.)
- Pillager encampments and raids
- Crossbow
- 1.16's Nether Biomes
- Ocean Mobs (especially turtles and dolphins)
- New Villager UI and Job Site functionality.
- Functional versions of the Lectern, Smithing table, and Target Block.
- Phantoms (Though admittedly I think most players are hoping that Phantoms don't ever happen.)
- Drowned and underwater cities.
Upcoming stuff that I'll be working on personally:
- Making treasure map chests actually contain hearts of the sea.
- Seeing if I can make Recurrent complex do 1.14 villages. This is on the backburner since a modder is working on it.
- adding more of the new slabs, stairs, and regular blocks through a custom mod. through content tweaker, MCreator still doesn't support slabs for some reason, and the update fixing that isn't out yet.
- fixing the advancements (the very very frightening advancement currently doesn't actually require your trident to be enchanted, it should.)
- adding treasure maps to the loot tables for sunken ships.
- figuring out why the recipe book is behaving weird.
- fixing any future problems that arise.
If there's any missing 1.13+ features in 1.12 mods that I'm missing, please, let me know. I'd love to expand this project even more!
Please report issues here before reporting them to any of the modders who helped make this possible. The vast majority of mods featured in this pack have been configured heavily.
