Description
Melee V Magicka is a modpack is based around combat. By combining Epic Fight with Spartan Weaponry, its addons, and many of Minecraft's best magic mods, you will need to survive, loot, and power up in order to defeat the invading Parasites. Even for those not accustomed to the (sometimes unnecessary) complexity of magic mods, Electrobob's wizardry and Cyclic are included for easier access to magic abilities. Additionally, dungeons, Lost Cities, and other loot sources can provide valuable Baubles for improving damage or mobility.
Note that this pack is not necessarily as "balanced" as ordinary modpacks are. In regards to combat, various damage changes and armor improvements have been made across mods, but because of that focus on fighting, other aspects of the game have been ignored. Mystical Agriculture and the Forestry powering its automation (very intentionally) trivializes many aspects of resource management, and the only special building blocks to find are those from the Chisel mod.
TL;DR: Players who enjoy playing 3d Factorio or building gorgeous bases may want to look elsewhere. This is a modpack about beating up parasites and mutant monsters.
Notes and Tips:
This pack is (as far as my testing shows) compatible with Optifine. Feel free to download it off of their website and just throw it in your mods folder.
Please use the included texture packs. They keep things coherent and make the recipe changes make more sense. It also just looks better than not using it.
Cyclic's Heart Containers and Inventory Upgrades have been retextured and given recipes made from Parasite parts, but the cap on how many hearts you can glean from Heart Containers has been doubled.
Although this is certainly not a tech mod, automating Mystical Agriculture using Forestry may require some of Cyclic's energy generation tools, peat being the most obvious choice. Forestry's peat can also be converted to Cyclic peat if so desired.
Many similar or identical materials, items, and baubles from different mods can be converted to their counterparts using Spectral Silt. Obtain it by finding Magic Crystals underground and crushing them into dust on a Crafting Table. (This also means the Crystal ore is valuable even if you only intend to use the "Melee" part of this pack!)
