What's new

Minecraft Family Edition — Changelog

Added

  • Creatures and Beasts (EXCITE)
  • Torch Toss, most balanced and lightweight version of this concept out there
  • Bountiful Pears (for integration)
  • Mob Ragdolls, new! Still deciding how I feel about it, but it adds a real weight to combat
  • JEI is back!
  • Seams & Stitches, sewing and tailoring, planned for deeper integration down the line
  • Lili's Pottery, new clay variants, glazed pots and vases, urns, bricks, planned for deeper integration down the line

Updated

  • Ribbits
  • Rustic Delight
  • Create: Slice & Dice
  • Field Guide

Removed

  • EMI, swapped back to JEI. Compat across the pack just wasn't there yet for EMI at this stage. Big change, but the right one.

Fixed

  • Chicken shedding

Known Issues

  • A lot of plants aren't Field Guide compatible yet, actively working through this
  • No Man's Land currently overrides the vanilla smoker recipe to require resin (unintended surprise, deciding whether it stays)
  • Custom Nature's Aura flower replacement hasn't successfully loaded in-game yet, Hearth and Harvest Mums are also on the list for a redo once this is sorted
  • Complementary/Euphoria stars not currently rendering with shaders on, not a settings issue, root cause still open
  • The in-game Alex's Mobs book can crash from referencing removed/scary mobs
  • Dusty Decorations and Seams & Stitches both add hides, need a compat pass so the two don't step on each other

Roadmap — What's Coming

World & Systems

  • A full vanilla-advancement quest tree (the Twelve Masteries) guiding players from a fresh start through mastering each major mod system, ending in title totems
  • Continued duplicate-animal cleanup pass: still deciding on Orca, Koi Fish, Seahorse, and Octopus family overlaps between mods

Release Timeline

  • Open Beta: September 25th
  • Public Release: October 23rd, via CurseForge
