KingSlayer 1.5
Version 1.5 is a major progression and survival overhaul for KingSlayer. This update pushes the pack further toward a deliberate RPG-style survival experience, where hydration, gear progression, and dungeon loot all follow a clearer path.
Survival and Hydration Overhaul
Water progression has been fully reworked into a real survival loop instead of a quick one-step solution.
- Furnace-purified water bottles are now the slow, primitive, base-bound option.
- Powdered Charcoal has been added as an instant but expensive field purification material.
- Recipe: 2 Charcoal -> 1 Powdered Charcoal
- Reinforced Paper has been added for the new filter progression.
- Recipe: 2 Paper + 2 String -> 2 Reinforced Paper
- The Water Filter recipe has been replaced and now requires:
- 6 Reinforced Paper
- 3 Powdered Charcoal
- Leather flasks can no longer be purified through campfires, furnaces, or smokers.
- Purified flask drinks now restore 6 hydration, reinforcing flasks as the long-term travel upgrade.
- Purified water bottles now restore 3 hydration.
- Furnace bottle purification now takes 840 ticks (42 seconds) per bottle.
- Bottle purification has been removed from campfires and smokers.
- Water bottles can now only be purified through:
- Furnaces
- Water Bottle + Powdered Charcoal
- Hidden drink saturation has been removed from purified water so hydration recovery is more readable and deliberate.
Gear Progression Rebalance
Equipment progression has been rebuilt so early materials, midgame metals, and endgame gear all occupy clearer roles.
New progression path:
- Stone Tools — Level 2
- Leather — Level 5
- Gold — Level 8
- Better Copper — Level 10
- Silver — Level 13
- Iron — Level 18
- Steel — Level 25
- Diamond — Level 38
- Netherite — Level 50
Additional progression changes:
- Better Copper now acts as the main starter metal tier.
- Silver now fills the space between copper and iron as a controlled specialist tier.
- Iron and steel are more clearly separated, with steel acting as the true bridge to diamond.
- Diamond is now a late milestone instead of a routine midgame step.
- Runic gear is positioned above Netherite as the prestige magical endgame tier.
- Overgeared now serves as the main forged tool and armor progression system.
- Forge quality is being reworked so:
- lower qualities fall below vanilla expectations,
- Perfectly Forged acts as the vanilla baseline,
- Masterwork gives only a modest bonus above vanilla.
UI and Health Progression
Health progression has begun shifting toward smoother half-heart style scaling.
- Colorful Hearts integration has started.
- The first row keeps the classic vanilla red.
- Higher heart rows shift into darker blue and purple tones.
- Additional compatibility work is underway so heart textures better match the overall pack style.
Loot and Dungeon Progression Rework
Structure rewards have been rebuilt around a stricter progression model so loot better reflects structure difficulty and the pack’s intended gear curve.
The old broad common / mid / high / relic system has been replaced with eight progression groups:
- Stone / Scavenged
- Copper / Low Armory
- Silver / Frontier
- Iron / Garrison
- Steel / Fortress
- Diamond / Elite
- Netherite / Apex
- Runic / Relic
Loot progression rules now include:
- Armor is handled more strictly than weapons and tools to prevent defensive progression from being skipped too early.
- Lower-tier armor appears more often than current-tier armor within each dungeon band.
- Weapons and tools remain slightly more permissive so players can still find exciting upgrades.
- Runic loot remains weapon-only and is reserved for the final relic tier.
Worldgen Expansion
Several new worldgen and structure mods have been folded into the progression model.
Added / expanded:
- Ice and Fire structures
- YUNG’s Better Caves
- YUNG’s Better Desert Temples
- YUNG’s Better End Island
- YUNG’s Better Ocean Monuments
- YUNG’s Better Strongholds
- YUNG’s Better Nether Fortresses
- YUNG’s Better Jungle Temples
- YUNG’s Better Mineshafts
- YUNG’s Better Witch Huts
- YUNG’s Bridges
- YUNG’s Extras
LootJS chest handling continues to use targeted full replacement rather than additive cleanup, allowing structure loot to be rebuilt cleanly around the new progression logic.
Summary
KingSlayer 1.5 is a major progression pass focused on survival depth and cleaner RPG-style advancement. Water now has a real upgrade path, gear tiers are more deliberate, and dungeon loot better reflects the danger and value of each structure.
The result is a harsher but more rewarding experience where travel, preparation, equipment milestones, and high-tier loot all feel far more intentional.
