It's got medieval fantasy, it's got adventure, it's got huge...tracks of land!

The theme of this modpack is: Create your own medieval fantasy adventure. Perhaps, re-imagine the land of 'Middle Earth' as your own Minecraft medieval fantasy. Here, you get to have your own Minecraft - Middle Earth - Medieval fantasy survival world that belongs to you, with epic world-gen, and mods that help you to realize that kind of adventure in Minecraft.

- The Story Begins (Lore) -

⋆˚₊ 𖤓   Prologue - The Dawn Of A New Age   ☽˚.⋆

"Who am I? What is this place called Middle Earth you ask? Master, this is no time for questions and idle chit-chat. Enough will be known to you in due time.

Listen, you're not safe here. Dark forces know of what you possess my friend. They will never stop hunting you because you possess a great secret unknown to most. An ancient secret that has nearly been forgotten, at least to the common folk of this world. A great secret that barely clings to the memories of common minds merely as legend. But there's no time to discuss that now.

You must go! Make for the small village North-East of here, in foothills of The Misty Mountains. A few days journey! Stay low! Stay silent! Stay on the move! Do not dally! Talk to no one until you arrive precisely where I tell you to go.

Now, in the village you will find the Inn of Longmire. Go there! When you talk to the innkeeper, tell him I sent you and that you need a safe place to stay the night. He'll fix you right up with a cozy room - free of charge. He knows me well. Heh! He owes me well too!

Who sent you? I sent you. Tell him I sent you. You can tell him. . . 'Ra' sent you. You can call me 'Ra'. Yes. . . that is the name this world knows me as. When you speak to the old innkeeper, he will know exactly of who you speak. Ages know me! I am of what some call the 'Order Of Nine', 'Council Of Nine', or simply 'Table Of Nine'. When I arrived in these lands, I arrived at the coastal city of... well. . .  it's a city long forgotten because it was destroyed long ago, buried beneath the sea. . . A coastal city now exists not far from where my old home city, now underwater and forgotten, . . . was. It is a city called Grey Haven. You've ever been there? Never mind! There's no time!

Make hast for Longmire! What you'll find, once you arrive at the inn and settle in, is that I will have arrived there well before you did. We will meet again soon in the safety and comfort of the inn in a few days. We shall talk again there and more shall be made known to you at that time. Now Fly! Go!"

* A short piece of fiction here (Lore), sets the stage for what this modpack is about. This is a medieval fantasy RPG adventure after all! Now, I hope you can begin to understand the spirit and theme I had in mind when building this modpack for Minecraft. That this modpack has a fictional theme and lore built around it, obviously making very sparing and loose references to other famous works of fiction, intentionally leaving the story ambiguous and open-ended, just enough to set the stage for you my friend, to take the torch, and carry-on telling the story of your own Minecraft adventure.

🐦‍🔥   Epic World-Gen With Tectonic + Terralith + Continents   🐦‍🔥

This modpack includes a new generation of fantastic world-gen mods, Tectonic + Terralith mods and more, that are going to make your worlds look amazing without losing the feel of vanilla Minecraft. What's even better is that you will be able to SEE FARTHER THAN EVER BEFORE with Distant Horizons mod, and still have smooth game performance even on a low-end machine.

For best performance from Distant Horizons mod I recommend using a mod called Chunky, included in this modpack, which is going to allow you to preload chunks in your world. This will allow Distant Horizons to work better allowing you to see farther and really appreciate the beautiful world-gen added by Tectonic/Terralith mods. I also recommend learning more about these mods and how to use them by doing your own research. They will help you a ton in order to have the best game experience possible.

The key with Distant Horizons is two things, besides your video settings. First, the chunks need to be pre-generated with chunky mod. Otherwise, your world is going render inconsistently and look ugly without generating the chunks first. I will help you do this with instructions below. As stated, using Chunky mod to pre-generate world chunks is necessary in order to help Distant Horizons work better. That's important not only to see far, but that this is going to allow you to optimize game performance even more by lowering 'default render distance settings' as I'll explain in more detail soon.

Second thing about Distant Horizons, while the chunks are loading up, turn OFF shaders termporariy.  Step back and let the world chunks load without shaders. When you can see that all the chunks in your line of sight are loaded with Distant Horizons rendering active (shaders Off), and you can see far, then it's okay to turn shaders on to go for those cinematic shots you're after.

🪄   How To Use Distant Horizons Mod For Minecraft - Full Guide   🪄

Let me now guide you through a series of simple easy steps to setup Distant Horizons with Chunky. This is where the magic of Distant Horizons takes effect, because it's going to give you the ability to have high render distances (at lower render quality). It's more than that though. When you have Distant Horizons rendering your world from afar, this allows you to lower the 'default render distance' lower than what you're used to. The game's render distance setting is the one setting in Minecraft that has the highest performance impact on the game. In other words, if you were used to setting your render distance at say '12', with Distant Horizons taking over the visual rendering beyond this setting, it's safe now to lower the 'default render distance' setting to say '8' or lower depending on how much detail you think you need. The ability to lower this setting, without sacrificing visual quality (you'll improve it instead), is what is going to significantly improve your game performance when using Distant Horizons. That is the slight-of-hand-magic-trick of Distant Horizons mod. Love me! No, I am not the author of Distant Horizons. Love me anyway! I am the God Of Love Fire. 🐦‍🔥

𓂀 STOP! Stop buying into the nonsense click-bait myth on YouTube that you need massive amounts of FPS. That's a lie. You don't need massive amounts of FPS to enjoy Minecraft. I mean, you see all these videos, "I went from 15 FPS to 600 FPS on a low-end PC". That's nonsense. Here's why that's nonsense. It's simple, you don't need more than 30 FPS to enjoy Minecraft and have smooth game performance. I want you to tattoo that in your brain right now. You don't need more than 30 FPS for Minecraft. Why? I'll prove it to you without this becoming a power point presentation. It's simple. You've been watching movies all your life running at 30 FPS. 30 FPS is what your eyes are used to. 30 FPS looks normal and natural to the human eye. Anything above 30 FPS is overkill. When people talk about 60+ FPS, that means nothing. They're either attempting to deceive/manipulate you for your attention, or they downright don't know what they're talking about.

That's that! Let's continue!

🪄   How To Use Distant Horizons Mod For Minecraft With Shaders   🪄

Step-1) First make sure your 'video settings' are dialed-in for optimal performance on your specific game setup (*see section below, "Recommended Video Settings").

Step-2) Spiritually speaking, we need to come into at-one-ment and acceptance with the idea that this setup process is going to take some time, because you're going to have Chunky pre-generating game chunks so Distant Horizons can work better. The wait time, about 1-3 hours (about a hot second), will be well worth it.

Think of this like as part of the 'initial setup process' of starting your beautiful new modded Minecraft "forever world". Your modded Minecraft world is going to look epic. You're going to think you've stepped into Lord Of The Rings when you play your new modded world in Minecraft. You're going to be pinching yourself to see if this is real or not. You get the the idea! What you're going to do here is run chunky in Minecraft for 1-3 hours, and simply step back from the game letting Chunky do its thing for a little while as you go be occupied with something else in the meantime. Remember to make sure your computer doesn't go into 'sleep mode' while this process is happening by adjusting 'system settings' if need be.

Step-3) Before we start using Chunky, let's do a quick check:

First, in your game right now, is the location your standing in a place that you think is worth waiting an hour or two in order to pre-generate a radius of 1000 chunks? Finally, make sure any 'shaders' are turned OFF while chunky is generating game chunks. Very important to turn OFF shaders while setting up Distant Horizons! Shaders can be turned back on later, after we complete this setup process.

Step-4) Now we're ready to start Chunky. Position your player in a fixed location that you want chunk generation to start from. Take note of the coordinates of where you're standing, X,Z (F3 or displayed beneath minimap). Type the following commands in ordered sequence:

First, type the command: " /chunky center [<x> <z>] " (This sets the center block for chunk pre-generation).

   * Example: " /chunky center 0 0 " (Sets the center location to 0, 0).

Next, type the command: " /chunky radius [radius number of blocks] " ( I recommend setting this number either '500' or '1000'. '1000' is a good setting here. Beyond '1000', you be waiting a very very long time).

   * Example: " /chunky radius 500 " (Sets the radius to 500 blocks) " /chunky radius 500 1000 " (Sets the radius to 500 blocks in the X direction, and 1000 blocks in the Z direction).

Finally, type the command: " /chunky start " (Starts a new chunk generation task, using your existing selection. A 'progress bar' should appear at the top of the screen.)

* Example: " /chunky start " (Starts pre-generation for the currently selected world, shape, center, and radius in blocks.) Note: Unless changed, the default selection is typically a square region in the overworld, centered at 0, 0 with radius 500 (1000 x 1000 blocks).

You can pause Chunky at any time by running command: "/chunky pause". If you want to start over at a new location repeat steps above, instead this time the last command will be "/chunky confirm". A game prompt informs player of this command when changing the location of Chunky generation.

For a more information about using Chunky, check out the Chunky Wiki.

Now that Chunky is doing it's thing, it's fine to go AFK and come back later.

Step-5)  Once Chunky has completed chunk generation of set chunk radius, it's time to setup Distant Horizons (no shaders just yet). Open Distant Horizons settings menu (found within 'game options' clicking on the colorful button on the top-left of the screen). Click 'enable Distant Horizon rendering' to activate Distant Horizons rendering. There are additional configuration options as well. If you're running the game on low-end hardware, feel free to copy these settings:

𓆃 Distant Horizons settings: 'Quality Preset: Low/Medium', LOD Render Distance Radius 64/128.

Now Distant Horizons will render FAR distances as you will now see.

Step-6) Final and LAST step, once and only once you see that Distant Horizons is now rendering far out into your world, if you haven't soiled yourself at step-5, it's okay now to turn on any 'shaders' you're using.

Don't forget to adjust your 'default render distance' in 'video settings'! Maybe you're used to setting your render distance at '12'. With Distant Horizons you can lower your render distance from what you normally do. This will give you better game performance without sacrificing visual quality.

𓂀   Enjoy your new epic modded Minecraft world with far sight!

🐦‍🔥   Recommended Video Settings   🐦‍🔥

𓃠 As stated, this modpack is a work-in-progress. If you experience game performance issues, first make sure your video settings are optimized for your game setup. If all else fails, it may be necessary to disable some mods, features, and/or tweak your game setup for best performance. I'm no expert at all the technicalities of optimizing game performance. I'm learning these things myself as I go along.  Remember to do your own research!

That's that! Let's continue!

That said, here are a few things you can try, especially if you're running the game on low-end hardware:

𓆃 Video Settings: Render Distance: 8-10 chunks, Graphics: Fast, Particles: Minimal, Max Framerate: Unlimited.
𓆃 Distant Horizons settings: 'Quality Preset: Low/Medium', LOD Render Distance Radius 64/128.

𓆃 Shader Pack Settings: (Video Options>Shader Packs>Shader Pack Settings>) Set 'Profile' preset to "Low" or disable altogether if needed.

Here are my video settings. Feel free to copy what you see here, and adjust other settings as you see fit:

🐦‍🔥   Useful Commands & Tips   🐦‍🔥

𓂀    Here are some useful commands and tips to get you started with this modpack   𓂀

𓆃 Easy Homes: Easy Homes is a useful mod included in this pack that lets you set a 'home teleport point' that you can activate with simple commands. You can create as many of these as you like. This is a popular feature you see on many SMP servers. It's a fun feature that you can enjoy in your SP game with this modpack.
When you spawn into your new world for the first time, try this: Enter the command, "/sethome [home name]". This sets a new 'home teleport point'. Now, anytime you want to instantly teleport to that location enter the command, "/home [home name]"

.𓆃 Nature's Compass: Remember, Nature's Compass is your best friend! Nature's Compass can be found either in the 'creative menu > tools', or the crafting recipe can be found in the 'roughly enough items GUI'.

𓆃 Notes: This small mod adds a fun and useful feature (similar to the 'clipboard' from the Bibliocraft mod for MC java 1.7.10). If you press the 'Notes hotkey (N)' a simple GUI appears which allows you to write/edit notes to yourself that you can pin to your HUD screen (shown below):

𓆃 Medieval Background Music (Resource Packs): As of Inner Fire: Middle Earth Reforged v1.1.9, are included resource packs that replace the Minecraft default background music with medieval-style background music, and Lord Of The Rings style background music. As an aside, regarding these 'medieval music resource packs', I repaired these 'broken resource packs' myself and got them working properly before installing them in my modpack, Inner Fire: Middle Earth Reforged v1.1.9+. Yes, these resource packs DO work as included with my modpack. Yes they are COOL!

🐦‍🔥   Easily Transfer Your 'World Save Data' When Updating Instances   🐦‍🔥

⋆˚₊ 𖤓 ☽˚.⋆ To easily transfer your 'world save data', with the CurseForge modpack launcher open, navigate to your modpack profile (game instance) under 'My Modpacks' tab. Open the 'profile folder' by clicking the 'icon with the three dots' next to the orange 'play' button. You want to open both the 'profile folder containing your most recent world save', as well as the 'new updated modpack profile folder'. With both profile folders open, find the following folders and transfer your world save data by simply copy/pasting/replacing the appropriate files from the old profile folder into the new profile folders respective file location shown below:
𓆃 Transfering your latest world save data: Your 'world save data' is contained within the 'saves' folder located here:(C:>Users>User name>curseforge>minecraft>Instances>profile name>saves>world save name).

𓆃 Transfering your latest JourneyMap data: 1)
Your latest 'JourneyMap data' is contained within the 'journeymap' folder located here: (C:>Users>User name>curseforge>minecraft>Instances>profile name>journeymap>data>sp>world save name). 2) Also, you probably want to transfer all your 'custom JourneyMap configurations' because THAT is time-consuming to setup: Simply transfer the contents of the journeymap 'config' folder located here: (C:>Users>User name>curseforge>minecraft>Instances>profile name>journeymap>config).

𓃠 Note: If any of these files are missing, make sure you've launched the game from your new profile at least once (then close the game), and the files will be created for you. Next transfer your 'JourneyMap data' from step-1 above. Launch the game a second time, this time load your saved world once, then close the game again. This will create the additional JourneyMap files to complete step-2 above (transfer your journeymap config). Now, the next time you launch Minecraft, all your JourneyMap data including your configurations will all be saved exactly as you last left it.

🐦‍🔥   Why I Built This Modpack   🐦‍🔥

𖤓 This modpack is my attempt at creating my "DREAM: light-weight, adventure RPG/ Magic/ medieval/ light-weight modpack" to use with my SP modded Minecraft "forever-world" - a single world I commit to sticking with long-term.

There are a few mods here that lend themselves to custom map/quest design. This is because I built this modpack with the intention of building my own custom survival/ custom puzzles/ custom lore/ adventure map at a later date. Possibly this would be a custom map I include in future installments of this modpack that I would release chapter-by-chapter if I ever find the time (which in 15 years has never happened). You know, one can still dream of Minecraft projects one does not have the time to fully reaslise?

If others enjoy the modpack, that's great! Wonderful! I want others to enjoy the pack. Remember, this is
a work-in-progress.

🐦‍🔥   List Of Recommended Data Packs Compatible With This Modpack   🐦‍🔥

𓆃   Disclaimer: Be careful when adding data packs to this modpack. Installing too many of these may have a negative impact on game performance. If you do choose to add data packs to this modpack, I recommend leaning on the side of caution and to do so 'sparingly', depending on what kind of system you're running the game on. I've found that some data packs tend to be more problematic than others. The data packs listed below are ones that I've tested and not found any issues with (so far).

Also understand, before every new release of this modpack, I always test the pack first ('without data packs' added), making sure that gameplay runs smoothly for me before releasing the modpack. I run MC on an average 8GB laptop. The way I see it, if the game runs smoothly for me on my lower-end machine it's a "light-weight modpack." in my book.
