A modded Minecraft horror game

Description

Hunted is a horror minigame, where "Prey" trapped within the abode of a "Hunter" must work together, collect keys, and escape before death at the hands of the Hunter.

Hunted completely transforms Minecraft into a quick-thinking horror game. With its own mod, Hunted intends on being a fun Horror experience with jumpscares, etc. that you can play with your friends or by yourself.

Features

  • Jumpscares
  • Custom classes and abilities
  • Custom maps
  • Singleplayer and Multiplayer Support

As Prey, you're meant to explore your surroundings to find and press buttons while evading and fleeing from the Hunter. Pressing a button will have a chance of giving you a key, an item essential for your escape, or a curse, which can greatly hinder you and your team. Once all of the keys are collected and deposited in the keyholes near the gates, they will open allowing you and the remaining Prey to escape.

As the Hunter, you get to hunt down your friends with the added amusement of scaring the living daylights out of them. Your goal, of course, is to kill them before they can escape your clutches. Slimy bunch they are, in all honesty.

Players can pick classes each with their own unique abilities, that help aid in their escape. The default keybind for abilities is "R".

LAN is not supported. Due to issues out of our control, LAN is very unstable and is not recommended to be used.

Starting a game

The Kiosk

The kiosk lets you join and begin games. You'll be able to find one in each map. Simply right click it to bring up the Hunted game menu. Navigate to the second tab to look and select classes. Clicking on a class will provide with a quick summary and descriptions of each of the class' abilities. You can use the arrows at the top of the list to navigate between Prey and Hunter classes. Once you've picked one you like, press the "Select" button, navigate to the next tab, then queue yourself for the next game.

If you're the first person to queue up, you'll be considered the "VIP." As the VIP, you get to decide when to begin the game.

The last tab includes some client side settings that can be toggled. These settings do not impact gameplay and are merely for personal preference.

Accessibility

  • If you prefer to not play with jumpscares, creepy Hunter masks, etc, disable "Horror Elements" in the client config via the kiosk menu.
  • If it's your first few times playing a map, try enabling "Button Highlighting." Button highlighting highlights buttons for players to allow them to get a sense for where they are across the map. If you're the game VIP, you can enable them by pressing the button to the right of "Begin" in the game join menu in the kiosk.
  • To access singleplayer mode, simply use the left/right arrows below the "Join" and "Begin" button bar in the game menu to swap the game mode.

  • Client

Download and install the CurseForge launcher. In the Minecraft menu, search for "Hunted." Install the pack, run it, sign into the Minecraft launcher, then press play.

  • Dedicated Server
  1. Go to "Files," select the version you wish, then download the server pack bundled with the file. Extract the file into a new folder.
  2. Download the launcher for the latest version of Forge 1.19.2 (at the time of writing, 43.1.47). Run the installer, select "Install Server," then change the directory to where you extracted the server contents to. After all is setup, press "OK" (NOTE: It'll say "there are files already present," which is normal).
  3. Run the .bat file that is now present in the server folder. Read and accept the EULA in the eula text document.
  4. Next, you'll need to port forward and setup your server to allow others to join.
  5. Restart your server, and you should be good to go. Launch Hunted on your device, go to "multiplayer," enter the server IP and press join.
