Hello, and welcome to Forgepunk! Survive the first night in a beautiful but deadly world, learn smithing to progress, and delve into magic to thrive!

Description

Forgepunk

Introduction

Forgepunk is a medieval fantasy minecraft modpack focused on crafting, survival, and exploration. Its core features include substantial improvements to the way Minecraft looks, major tweaks to Minecraft's survival systems, and several large magic mods with extensive amounts of content. However, all players must start with surviving the first night, which must be done either by mastering the smithing skills of the Minefantasy: Reforged mod, or by teaming up as a group to take on the night as a team.

Community Focus

Forgepunk is a pack intentionally designed for multiplayer play. It is designed to encourage players to work together, to branch off into different specialties and provide each other with different goods, and to present players with challenges best tackled as a group. It is extraordinarily difficult to become a master of all skills in this pack, so collaboration is key for unlocking the most powerful items. So, go forward, and have fun together!

Engaging Crafting Mechanics, In-Game Documentation

The central pillar of Forgepunk's game design is the mod Minefantasy: Reforged; which overhauls the vanilla system for crafting tools with a system that is deep and engaging. Level up your skills and forge powerful tools on your anvil, bake potent foods in your kitchen, and craft elaborate feats of engineering. However, no matter how complex the crafting recipe, the pack is full of in-game documentation. Look up any recipe in game with JEI, which has had additional information added to it. Look through guidebooks added by mods for answers, explanations, and tutorials for using modded features. Though some recipes may be hidden until you unlock the research required to craft it, the aim of this pack has been to have in-game ways of acquiring all the information you need to play. And, when in doubt, read the tips in the loading screen!

More Challenging Survival Features

This pack aims to take some basic survival features that are of little-to-no consequence in vanilla and make them more involved and interesting. Health regenerates slowly, rather than rapidly after eating food, encouraging the use of bandages and health potions. Crops grow more slowly, encouraging players to plant large fields and stock up between harvests. Vanilla foods aren't as fulfilling, prompting players to delve into Minefantasy's cooking system. Livestock require food and water to stay happy (don't worry, they won't die, just won't breed and won't drop as much if unhappy), but will naturally reproduce on their own so long as they are fed. Breaking blocks by hand takes longer, encouraging players to pursue quality tools. However, this pack does not provide problems without solutions, and with sufficient progression through the pack, or with help from friends, these challenges can be thoroughly overcome!

Beautiful, Living World

Forgepunk has been built from the ground up to provide as stunning a visual experience as is possible within Minecraft. World generation has been overhauled, countless mods working in tandem to create sweeping natural landscapes dotted with ancient ruins, abandoned structures, and dynamic living creatures. Seasons will pass, roughly one season per real life day, trees will grow on their own and shift forest borders, the wilds are populated by dozens of species of animals. In addition, this pack has been engineered to work with shaders, and a customized selection of resource packs have been included in the download.

Dangerous Monsters

Though the night remains dangerous, the generic monsters of the night have not received many tweaks (except zombies, who may swarm you). However, once you move beyond spawn, the world is populated by deadly monsters, fit to be challenged only be groups of well-armed players. Any creature from the Ice and Fire mod will be a pain to tackle alone-but modifications to how Minecraft's frames of damage immunity work will allow players to coordinate in combat more so now than ever before. It is dangerous to go alone-so bring a friend, and conquer the wilds together!

The Five Schools of Magic

After surviving the first night, the majority of Forgepunk’s most powerful features lies within its five magic mods, which are referred to as the Five Schools of Magic. Follow the path of druidism in the Roots mod, and gain mastery of the natural forces of the world. Delve into the arcane secrets of thaumaturgy with the Thaumcraft mod, and slowly trade your sanity for devices of magical power. Tinker with dwarven, molten magic in the Embers mod to further empower your weapons, tools, and workshop with the power of embers. Perform Occult rituals and become a fairy-tale hero (or villain!) in the Witchery mod (which also adds lycanthropy and vampirism, I might add). Hardest to unlock, but most powerful of all, is the study of starlight present in the Astral Sorcery mod, which lets one channel the power of the heavens into their very bodies to grant them superhuman abilities. Each mod has a guidebook (or several) that will guide players through its content and allow them to unlock all the power the mod has to offer. As each mod has its distinct progression path, it will take time and effort to master just one—so work with a team of friends to explore multiple progression paths all at once!

Customized, Compatible Experience

There is not a single mod in Forgepunk that has not been intentionally tweaked or altered in some way. Hundreds of lines of custom Crafttweaker scripting have gone into removing or renaming duplicate items, rewriting crafting recipes, and more to tailor each mod to fit into the whole. Though most of the most important changes will go unseen (like the many duplicate instances of copper that were disabled), the result is a tightly-knit modpack that provides a cohesive experience!
