Do you hate tech-mods?
Yes, even Create?
Do you just want to explore?
Do you want to cast spells?
Do you want to tame creatures to fight alongside you?
Do you want just a little bit of absolute terror mixed into the fold?
Then this might be the modpack for you!
This modpack mostly revolves around using fun magic mods that don't require much tedium or automation in order to functionally engage with them. Ars Noveau has some automation in it, but I think the spells more than make up for it. Iron's Spells and Spellbooks is a wonderful magic mod, and if Thaumcraft ever actually comes to a modern version of Minecraft it will definitely be added here.
Most of the gameplay revolves around starting relatively weak and improving over time to become super powerful. The forces against you are going to seem overwhelming at first: Born in Chaos has some notoriously difficult mobs, Spore: Fungal Infection can be quite difficult in later stages, but is far more balanced than Scape and Run and is more consistent than Flesh that Hates (in my opinion). There's also a horror mod for some added fear and adrenaline.
There's Mystical Agriculture to become very strong, Spartan Weaponry, the aforementioned magic mods including Apotheosis, as well as Ice and Fire to tame or otherwise make use of Draconic resources to make even more powerful weapons. I'd like for this modpack to function similarly to RLCraft without a lot of the tedium like a water system, temperature, or being unable to punch trees.
The last massive inclusion in Cobblemon, which might seem weird in a modpack about the horrors that lie in the dark and the looming threat of a fungal infection, but I think it actually works quite well with the theme.
You are trying to utilize every aspect of the world you can to "face the darkness" so to speak. Training the "wildlife" (Pokemon) is an aspect of that.
MODPACK WILL REQUIRE ABOUT 8GB OF RAM BUT NO MORE THAN 8.5GB
Only a fool would try to salvage what remains of this world.
What remains of civilization is between scattered villages and townships. Abandoned structures populate the world as well as dungeons reclaimed by the dark forces that pervade this world. What people remain dare not venture into the forests for fear of the beast that hunts those that stray too far into the dark, nor do they venture into the caves out of fear of the undead army that lies within. The world is tainted by a fungal infection that seeks only to spread and add more to its collective hive-mind.
And there you are, at the center of everything. You once stood against the Darkness. Once. And you have paid the price.
The world was once overrun by the forces of Darkness as well as the forces of the Hive Mind. You sacrificed yourself to stem the tide, and the Hive Mind has become... dormant. For now.
Strangely, you've returned to the fold, your service to the world has not yet ended. The forces of Darkness remain, and the Hive Mind ceases to be, but may yet rise again. It is up to you to stop it and to bring light back to the world.
Use a mixture of magic, combat, and captured creatures to venture out into the world and explore. Become a Vampire or fight against them, hunt mighty Dragons, and stop the Hive Mind and the forces of Darkness from claiming the world once again.
Will you rise to the occassion? Or will you fall and damn the world alongside you.
