"Version Transfer" update
So funny story; a few weeks ago my friends coerced me into playing a 1.18.2 modpack with a few of these mods thrown in. I liked it so much it was actually hard to go back to the old 1.16.5 versions. Given that, I've converted the modpack (and by "converted" I mean "rebuilt") to 1.18.2.
Here's what you can expect;
Mod Substitutes
Some mods didn't get all the way to 1.18.2, but some of them got substitutes or remakes/unofficial ports.
- Dynamic Lighting; Replaced with Magnesium/Rubidium Dynamic lighting. It's also apparently got better performance.
- Dynamic Surroundings; Replaced with Dynamic Surroundings Resurrected, the unofficial port.
Mod Snubs
I went back over the mod list and considered a few of the mods that I was on the fence about earlier. Some mods also just don't have a suitable substitute for 1.18.2 either. These mods are no longer in the modpack.
- Resourceful Bees; I know, this one hurts bad, but there's nothing to be done; it just doesn't exist for 1.18.2. No, don't ask me to use Productive Bees instead, I tried it and it sucked in comparison.
- Large Ore Deposits; This one was a fairly early addition meant to ease strip mining, but it ended up being obsolete as the modpack moved forward. This also gets the boot.
- Akashic Tome; Turns out only one mod in this pack uses Patchouli integration, which kind of makes Akashic Tome pointless. This one got trimmed.
- Worley's Cavegen; With the new, larger caves in 1.18 I felt that this mod was no longer necessary. I'll probably regret this at some point, but for now it's gone.
New Mods
Out with the old, and in with the new! Some of these are just cool things I found in the 1.18 modpack I played, and others are replacements for now unfilled niches.
- Mystical Agriculture; Yes that's right, back for the third time now is this resource generation mod. It's not my favorite but it will have to do.
- Ars Nouveau; This one's a new face you don't see often. This is a magic mod that adds in a few new mobs and resources and a spellbook with all kinds of utility.
- Rubidium/Magnesium Extras; This is mainly a "compat" mod for the new dynamic lights, but it supposedly fixes a whole bucketload of performance issues with lag spikes and the like (which we were all noticing).
- Art of Forging: A Tetra Addon; New stuff for Tetra! Hooray!
Mod Updates
I'm sure you're all wondering if this change was worth the effort. I'll show you why it was.
- Create; Many recipes are updated to be massively more convenient. To name one; you no longer have to craft buttons en masse to make cogwheels.
- HT's Treechop/TheOneProbe; TheOneProbe now shows the current and total chops for HT's Treechop.
- Quark; Uh... well... There's a lot that changed here. They've got a whole changelog that's pages long on their site, go check it out!
- Tetra; You no longer need to scour certain biomes for the Forge Hammer, and the Art of Forging addon adds a whole bunch of new modules.
- Origins; The origins have been updated! Not much has changed overall but there have been changes.
- Alex's Mobs; There's a whole lot more of them.
- Waystones; These now require EXP levels to use. Of all the changes this one is the only one that hurts a little, but with the cost scaling based on distance (From 3 levels all the way down to 0) it shouldn't be too bad.
Why is the File Name "0.8.02"?
Because halfway through writing this I realized I had forgotten AttributeFix, and had to re-export the pack.
