What's new

Data Center in the Sky 1.3.0

The Data Center mod moves from 1.6.3 to 1.6.7. The mod list is otherwise unchanged. An existing world updates in place - nothing has to be rebuilt.

A real spawn on the server

The official server, datacenter.modded.fun, now greets you with a data-centre campus floating in the sky instead of a bare plot: a lit plaza with a notice board, a glass-fronted data hall full of blinking racks, a radio mast - and leaderboards for teams and solo players, ranked by Compute and by mining income, live.

In the west corner of the campus the early game is laid out in four stations, left to right: sell logs at the Log Buyer, mine Bitcoin with the starter rig and hold it, rent out a Hosting Rack, deliver Compute with a Rack and a switch.

New in the Shop

  • Pre-built servers - a new section of complete new servers, ready to slot in. Every half year there are three: Budget, Performance and High-End, all from the parts on sale at that moment. They cost the parts plus 50% for the assembly.
  • Complete used servers on the second-hand market, one per mainboard, fitted out with the parts of their time.
  • Search looks through tooltips - type a socket like am2 or a memory type like ddr3.
  • A refused purchase now tells you why - not out yet, no longer sold new, or not enough money.

Fixed

  • Reorder swallowed the Server you laid in its slot when you closed the screen - after a reorder it looked like the purchase never arrived. The reference now comes back.
  • On a server whose calendar ran at a different pace than the players' configs, the Shop listed parts the server would no longer sell. The client now takes the pace from the server.
  • Signs and a title on a server's spawn explain /island create, and placing a block where you may not no longer makes the item look lost.

The full list is in the mod's changelog on its CurseForge page.
