Farsight - Testing to see if this works for everyone, currently the server dynamically handles view distance which effects the client how far they can see, this allows the client to get the chunks from the server and retain the chunks up to the clients set view distance, allowing you to actually configure your view distance while the server only has to handle the dynamic chunk view distance still so there is no additional stress on the server, in fact there will be less with the config changes of view distance, however, there may be more on the client
