A tech-driven survival experience where climate, seasons, and environmental pressure shape every decision you make.

Description

Consequences is a technology-driven survival modpack where climate, seasons, and environmental pressure shape every decision you make. The world reacts to industry, resource use, and exploration, turning careless actions into long-term challenges. Progress comes from adapting to the world’s rules and understanding interconnected systems rather than forcing rapid automation or power.

A Living and Reactive World

The world in Consequences operates by its own rules and responds directly to player behavior. Industrial activity, furnaces, fires, and machines generate pollution that affects air quality, plant growth, and player health. In enclosed spaces, unchecked pollution can even lead to dangerous explosions. Movement and terrain interaction leave visible marks on the landscape, and spelunking as well as careless mining can trigger unstable cave-ins underground. The environment is not static - it remembers and responds.

Climate, Seasons, and Environmental Pressure

Survival is strongly shaped by environmental systems. Climate determines temperature, rainfall, wind, storms, and extreme weather events. Seasonal progression affects crop growth and availability, with long winters requiring preparation and food storage. Players experience thirst and body temperature, making biome choice, clothing, shelter, and planning critical for survival. Water sources are finite and must be managed carefully. Drinking water requires purification, and careless consumption can leave entire regions dry.

Food, Farming, and Long-Term Planning

Food management in Consequences is a core survival system rather than a simple requirement. Crops grow only in appropriate seasons, food spoils over time, and dietary variety matters. Fishing, farming, cooking, preserving, and storage all play important roles in long-term survival. Animals will defend themselves when harmed, encouraging thoughtful and sustainable farming practices. Surviving winter requires planning well in advance.

Exploration and World Generation

The world is dense, varied, and filled with reasons to explore. Biomes are diverse and environmentally distinct, while villages, ruins, dungeons, temples, and ancient structures have been expanded or added. Exploration offers valuable resources, knowledge, and progression opportunities - but danger is always present.

Technology With Consequences

The tech path centers around Immersive Engineering and Mekanism, emphasizing infrastructure, logistics, and planning. Automation introduces new challenges such as pollution, heat, resource consumption, and environmental impact. Managing these systems becomes just as important as building them. Technology enables progress, but misuse or overexpansion can destabilize both the environment and the player’s base. Even familiar mechanics, such as item repair, behave differently and require reconsideration. Can you build up a space program (Stellaris) without ruining your world?

Quality of Life Without Removing Challenge

Quality-of-life features are included to reduce unnecessary friction, not difficulty. Improved inventory management, storage systems, navigation tools, building and harvesting aids, and gravestones help players manage complexity. These systems support long-term play without removing the need for planning, preparation, or respect for the world’s rules.

A Survival Experience Built on Systems

Consequences is designed for players who enjoy interconnected mechanics, environmental interaction, and meaningful progression. The challenge comes from learning how systems interact rather than from artificial difficulty spikes.

The world does not exist to serve the player - it reacts, adapts, and pushes back.

Every decision matters.

Tech Note:

Shader support and a functioning shader is added. Unfortunately, other shaders will not work with the some of the included mods.
