Introduction
I wanted to make something I thought was better than ATM packs with individual quest concentric end game goals. If you are an explorer, a builder, a redstoner, a mechanic, a nuclear physicist, a wizard, a beekeeper, an engineer, an analyst, or maybe all of these, I did my best to give everyone something they would enjoy. I am personally a big fan of breaking the game any way I can, if you read some of the quest descriptions you might find some new ways too!
Includes:
-Magic: Ars Nouveau, Irons' Spells n Spellbooks, Mystical Agriculture, Mahou Tsukai, Forbidden & Arcanus, Occultism, Hexerai, Evilcraft
-Tech: Create, Refined Storage, AE2, Industrial Foregoing, Mekanism, Powah, Just Dire Things, Integrated Dynamics, SFM, Pneumaticraft
-Exploration: Confluence: Otherworld, Cataclysm, Alex's Caves & Mobs, Mowzie's Mobs, Luminous Creatures & Beasts, Twilight Forest, Eternal Starlight, The Bumblezone
-Decoration: Skart's Deco, Chisel Reborn, Rechiseled, Chipped, Architect's Pallete, Straw Statues
In addition to these there are many more mods, some are addons to the above mods! If you are interested you can see them here https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/cathedral-pack/relations/dependencies
Where to start?
Grab a starter kit from the landing page quests! Otherwise, wherever you want really. There are a lot of building, exploration, tech, and magic mods. I like to push for survivability first and then build my base, just don't forget to build yours! Lost? Follow through some of the quests! Can you find a material even rarer than Unobtainium???
So... How many mods are there?
625 +/- with a few texture/resource/data packs.
Optimization
I have done my best to fully configure this pack, from the background configs for individual mods, to the menus, to the shaders, the default options, and some of the changes I have made using datapacks.
Customized default key binds are included.
No more crashing in The Other! I introduced a preventative measure using InControl to implement a spawn cap and falloff while inside the other_pyramid or other_dungeon structures, it is limited to 450. A big point of frustration is crashing and then dying during a rejoin/load in, hopefully that won't be the case anymore. If only Mojang could fix drowning on log in now...
I spent a lot of time with optimization, ensuring TPS stays stable during early game, heavy exploration, and end game.
Hosting a server even if it is on the same machine is better for multi-threaded CPUs.
USE THESE JVM ARGS
-XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -Dusing.aikars.flags=https://mcflags.emc.gs -Daikars.new.flags=true -XX:+UseStringDeduplication -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+UseCriticalJavaThreadPriority
Thank you Aikars, these JVM Args will remove stuttering when loading chunks and help maintain FPS, Chunky is also an option in this pack for pregenerating chunks.
Future Plans
Currently the majority of the quests are finished for magic related mods/addons. Want to see what is coming next? Go into creative and look at the quest book!
Quests: Rework Shops, Bosses, Enemies, add Occultism quest, Mekanism quest.
Balance Apotheosis somehow (Nerf Warlord and other gems).
Seperate Master Data Pack into individual Data Packs.
Update panorama, glass was using bugged shader setting.
More nerfs for unreasonable items.
Once this pack is complete I will look into making a Cobblemon extended version.
Q: How much RAM to allocate?
A: 8GB to 12GB (No more or less than)
Q: Minimum Specs?
A: DDR4 Ram @ 3200+, 6GB+ GPU, CPUs are skewed by a lot of different things, likely the more money yours costs the better.
