Better Than Starving

Better Than Starving is a mod pack focused on making the hunger bar more prevalent and adding ways to counter its effects. It emphasizes using infrastructure and buildings to complete tasks while using the least energy possible. Better than Hunger also creates a distinct separation between the early and late games with the addition of Copper Tools, which are used for most of the early-mid games. 

Inspired by mods like Better Than Wolves and Terrafirmacraft, Better Than Starving strives for stylized realism; A challenge that is not overly complicated or boring. Along with adding realistic mechanics, it also adds immersive visuals so that you feel the pain. Tinnitus when creepers blow up, water dripping when you swim, being ambushed by skeleton archers on a road, and blood everywhere during combat is only a small amount of the immersion that Better Than Starving offers, and it's all able to be experienced without having to go through the hassle of overly complicated tech trees or multi-hour grinds. Better Than Hunger shackles you and leaves you there; it's your choice to oversee the limitations and turn them into an advantage. 

It is recommended for beginners to play this mod pack in Survival mode. Death in the early game is incredibly easy to achieve, and it takes getting used to the extreme hunger system. 

Caves have been made super rare to conceal ores and lengthen the process of finding them while also giving a pacifist use to items like TNT. 

This modpack is made for people who embrace challenges, that don't want to torture themselves by playing Better Than Wolves. In a sense, this is a watered-down version. 

Show me that the limitations don't matter. That's the main point of Better Than Starving.

Better Than Hunger is in an early-alpha of some sort. All the features may be subject to minor changes and balances, along with new content.
