Description

The Problem

In vanilla Minecraft, fighting hordes of undead has no lasting consequences. When you kill a zombie or when it despawns at dawn, it simply vanishes, leaving behind a piece of rotten flesh and a clean meadow. Surviving the night feels like a temporary chore rather than a persistent struggle. This mod changes that by making the aftermath of a battle just as dangerous as the battle itself.

Core Features

The Dead Don't Disappear: When undead mobs (like Zombies, Skeletons, Husks, or Drowned) die or despawn, they no longer vanish. Instead, they rot into a block called Zombie Remains. These gore piles stack up dynamically, similar to snow layers, up to 16 layers high.

The Cycle of the Undead: These remains are ticking time bombs. Over time, new undead will crawl out of the gore. The higher the bodies pile up, the more dangerous the threat becomes. A massive pile won't just spawn regular zombies—it will spawn elite variants like "Enhanced Zombies", "Veteran Skeletons", or "Cursed Withers" with massively buffed health, damage, and speed.

The Screamer: A terrifying new monster stalks the night. The Screamer prefers to sit quietly in the dark, waiting. If it spots you, it will unleash a deafening shriek. This scream is a trigger: it instantly and forcefully awakens ALL nearby Zombie Remains, surrounding you with an enraged, speed-buffed horde in seconds.

A Lethal Environment: You can walk through the remains, but it comes at a risk. If you step on a pile, hidden zombie hands might grab you from below. If their attack penetrates your armor, you will be held back (Slowness) and infected (Poison).

Grave Robbing: To stop the endless cycle of the undead, you have to clean up the remains. Digging them up with a Shovel destroys the pile and rewards you with thematic loot—ranging from bones and rotten flesh to damaged armor, weapons, and rarely, Armor Trims.

Technical Details & Modpack Integration

No Bloat: This mod focuses on one specific, highly polished mechanic. It adds exactly one new block type, one new mob, and custom particles/sounds. It does not clutter your game with unnecessary items or world generation.

Dynamic Visuals & Hitboxes: The Zombie Remains aren't just flat textures. They feature dynamic voxel shapes that form a realistic pile as layers are added, complete with custom cross-models for protruding bones and skulls that change based on the pile's size.

Highly Configurable: Everything is in your control via the config file. You can adjust the spawn chances, which mobs contribute to the piles (and how many layers they add), the exact stat buffs for elite variants, and much more.

Modpacks: You are free to include this mod in any CurseForge modpacks. It is highly recommended for Hardcore Survival or Zombie Apocalypse packs.
